I visted Japan for the first time a few 4 years ago and fell in love with these toilets. They are common in South Korea too. I ended up taking a risk and purchasing a panasonic one two years ago. I didn't want to spend too much just in case there were any issues as I live in the UK that has different voltage so I'd keep to a modest budget. I got it working and now I can't live without it. The only snag with these toilets is the cost of installing. Therefore, making water and electricity connections in a safe way and in my case the added cost of a voltage converter. However, now that it's done it will be easier to upgrade in the future. I recomend anyone purchasing one if on vactaion in Japan. If you show your passport you don't pay tax. The electrical store will stick on a plastic handle to the box and some polystyring straps. The airline can mark it as fragile too so it will pop out on the carousel in good shape when you get home. However, just be ready to explain to Customs that's it's a toilet seat and not a DVD player. : )

I travel to Japan frequently on business. Told wife how nice these things were, and got the ‘not interested’ stare. Bought the C5 and now she complains I didn’t get this earlier. The warm water and warm seat wins the gals over on first use, but overall cleanliness is what makes everyone enjoy. Savings on TP along pays for itself. No brained.

I had the downstairs bathroom stripped and a new bathroom fitted. I told the builder I wanted a Japanese style toilet and he had never heard of them! In the UK people have either tried one on holiday and are converts or know nothing about them! At the moment I was quoted 20 weeks delivery for a full Japanese toilet so I went for a Bidet seat matched to a toilet that all came as one package. The electrician, plumber and builder thought it was very funny, especially the nightlight! Works like a dream and I wouldn't go back to the toilet paper.

Coming back from Hawaii, we fell in love with the Toto bidet! It was the major takeaway from the trip in which hubby and I both agreed it was a must-have. One week later upon our return home, the bidet was purchased! We got the C5 wash let. Heated seats, remote, and deodorizing filter. We are VERY satisfied with our purchase!

Several years ago now I was lucky enough to go to Japan. I enjoyed the culture, the people, and their ingenuity. I loved using a bidet and questioned why we use so much toilet paper in the USA. I'm still living in an apartment but I will definitely be purchasing one of these eventually for my future house. Thanks for sharing!

Once you use one of those you will want one for sure. I bought mine after a trip to Japan. I the morning we have to fight in the family every one what to use it. More confortable, cleaner and much less toilet paper. I have my Toto for over 10 years now, never had an issue.

We installed a very similar toilet when we renovated our downstairs toilet (in the UK) & we definitely plan to install something similar in our upstairs bathroom when we renovate that. Visitors are either very excited to use it or daunted by it! I had no idea you could get just the toilet seat & install it on an existing toilet!

Tara...you--and your hubby--are naturals at putting these types of videos together. I appreciate that you provide very detailed information on all of the important points, and in a very concise manner! You're factual and cover the practicality of the product in a very fun and pleasant manner. Great job! Having worked in the electrical world for the past 35 years, I would just offer words of caution to anyone thinking of getting one of these fabulous seats. As you noted, the U.S. is way behind countries like Japan when it comes to providing the proper accommodations by default for toilet bidet seats. The truth is, you have to make sure the available electric source can handle the demands of these seats. My seat, for example, can use up to 1,800 watts of power. That draws 15 amps of current. A "normal" AC outlet in the U.S. has a 15-amp rating. If my seat alone didn't trip the breaker for this circuit, powering-up an additional electrical device on this same circuit would. Fortunately, most electrical codes in the U.S. require the use of 20-amp circuits in bathrooms, which you most likely have in your apartment. 20-amp circuits can handle 2,400 watts. I didn't look-up the current draw for your bidet seat, but I'm curious if you can use your seat at full current draw and run the hair dryer at the same time without tripping the GFCI outlet? What can become a fire hazard is when you have to run an extension cord to the toilet. Using a cord that is too long and/or rated too low for the job could cause the cord to overheat, potentially causing a fire. I would use the shortest cord possible and nothing rated under 20 amps. When my house was built 20 years ago, I didn't think to run dedicated 20-amp circuits to each toilet in the house (or future toilet locations). When the pandemic hit, I had the same thoughts as you. I ordered 3 bidet seats, but I also had to run a dedicated 20-amp circuit to each toilet to make the seats functional. Only the toilet seats are plugged into those outlets...nothing else.

I've had my Toto C5 for a year now. Am I in love with it - not really. It's such a process and I still use TP or a small washcloth to pat myself dry. No way that blower will dry you completely unless you have plenty of time to sit there. I watched many videos before purchasing, what most don't mention is the smaller opening than a standard seat or the slant of the seat. I'm glad that I was able to find a brick & mortar store to see one and talk to a person about it. Is it better than a regular toilet seat, I suppose, it's nice in the winter.

We have a Toto bidet. We love it BUT, when we wipe after using the bidet, is our butt squeaky clean? NOPE. Does the bidet cut down on toilet paper use? Yes, but you still need to use toilet paper at the end of each use to make sure the bidet didn't miss anything. 9 times out of 10, it did. Just our review.

I have TOTO toilets, but after much research, I chose to buy three BioBidet Bliss BB-2000 Bidet Seats. Its controls are via remote control, which I leave mounted in its holder on the wall. I preferred this over having the controls on the seat to keep a sleeker profile on the toilet and so it would provide easier access for cleaning the outside of the toilet on a regular basis. It got great reviews and offers features like warm water (with adj. temps), variable-heated seat, warm air dryer, adjustable water pressure, vortex wash, adjustable stainless steel nozzle position, deodorizer and night light. And this model goes on sale for hundreds of dollars off fairly frequently. One common problem I read about with bidet toilet seats is that some will run out of warm water before you're done washing, causing an unpleasant experience when you suddenly start getting splashed with cold water. I've never had that happen in 2 years with the BioBidet seats. There are a number of good bidet toilet seats out there -- including TOTO! Do your research. Once you have used a bidet toilet seat for a little while, you start to realize that using just toilet paper is nothing but a big smear campaign!

3:54 just to fix that. You don't "double click" you just have to click "once "to activate the mode. When in that mode, you only have to click "Once" to turn on the oscillating status, and click "Once more" to stop oscillating. So basically if you DOUBLE CLICK, it comes to stop.

At the start of the video I couldn't understand how you made the toilet paper math work, then I heard "$300" and nearly spat my coffee out! Sadly, in Australia, anything with the name Toto on it starts from four figures. And then you're looking at the same again to have a plumber legally install it with the proper backflow valve to eliminate the risk of 💩 getting into the drinking water supply.

I bought the Toto c100 as my first bidet after countless amounts of research with other different brands and I ended up settling with this one. I have 2.5 bathrooms in my house and bought 1 for all of them including new toilets the were high efficiency because I needed to solve my water problem and have had them for the last 3 months. When I say these bidets have changed my life and my families lives, I really mean they changed them!!! I will never go back to toilet paper as it cleans absolutely EVERYTHING and when you think your done it releases the leftovers after a wash having you wash a second time for a thorough clean and it doesn’t waste water because it only uses 0.1gpm of water!!!!!! Nor does it hog electricity especially when you put it in energy saver mode!!! And it’s super easy to clean and most importantly, NO MORE SLAMMING TOILET SEATS!!! This is definitely an awesome quality product that is worth the money to buy!

Thank you. Great video. 1:28 I agree that Toto is the gold standard, but they can be expensive. I settled on a seat made in Korea that was more than 50% cheaper and had more features, including a night light, remote control and stainless steel wand. My only regret is not getting one many years ago. When travelling (outside of Taiwan, South Korea and Japan), I try to find hotels that have a washlet. Amazingly, there is at least one website that has a list. 3:32 I think that for the larger person a remote control is more convenient than this style fixed to the side. 5:32 Would a non-electric bidet seat be more convenient to use than one of these sprays?

No, there are different shapes bowls, round or oval so you need to match the right one. My husband explains that in his install video if you are curious =)

Interested in toilet for future. Have a question, has anyone who has one, had UTI's or anything similar when owning or using one for a few times. I am concerned with our family autoimmune conditions the water interaction in the toilet manner, may cause increased infections. Informative video about product.

Hello, it's just a basic seat attachment. Use it as a regular toilet if the power goes out.

Thanks Kim! That would be a good video, the only reason I haven't yet is I'm still using all the products in the old video, only less of them lol. Just argan oil, concealer, blush, anti-shine powder, and mascara. Although I have updated my skincare and haircare so maybe I could do a video combining all three topics =)

Toto isn't the inventor of it nor the first to market it. Another Japanese toilet maker was. "gold standard" lol Toto is an American rock band.
