Tarek Fatah is honest, pure hearted and very knowledgeable person. He is born in India and had roots in india. I wish he should be honored to be Indian citizen, and entrusted to be President. He knows the right history, and has good political, social & moral values. This combination will never be seen anywhere. That makes him very special person to be Honored.

Mr Tarekh Fateh Sahib, a few days ago you commented that in Delhi, the name of Aurangjeb Road should be changed, sir, the name has been changed. The new name is APJ Abdul Kalam Road.Sir,I do agree that we Indians do not think the way you think. We people are much concerned about our careers and think totally about our future.

Let me tell you a fact. Tarek sir is right here by stating that Indians are not aware of what is going on in Pakistan. This is true. Being an Indian you can just think about your relatives and friends then you will realize that most of them are having no idea about all this politics and stuffs. But this is actually an advantage because if a nation want to progress then most of it's people need not worry about all this politics. It should be left over to the Nation security and foreign policy teams for that nation. In this way general people can focus more in their work and hence improves the overall economy of the country. Just look at Pakistan they don't do much work and just focus on how to spoil India and hence they are not progressing rapidly. Meanwhile Indians are busy in writing codes on their computers and preparing their rockets to space. Just like Indians look at Chinese and Americans their people are far away from any types of political discussion. Most of the Americans are not even aware of the structure of the globe and Chinese people are not allowed to have the right to know about their government policy due to autocracy. So, for overall development general Indian people should remain apart from politics, otherwise more stress and hate will evolve among us which is not good. Please try to watch all this by being impassive if you still wanna know.

Gourav Das Very naive comment. who says interest in politics and a strong work ethic cannot go hand in hand.. if indians are not involved in politics which is what has happened over the years, the result is before us: illiterates who are vulnerable to biryani and liquor will decide our political fate, we have widespread corruption with chalta hai attitude, 60% criminals sitting in the parliament and a corrupt ex-constable (who was caught red handed taking bribe) like Sushilkumar shinde as Indias former home minister. The US is not an ideal country by any means- it has difficulties of their own. They have succeeded economically because of their geographical location (far away from conflict ridden zones), they have a lot of resources (5 times land area as that of india) and 1/4th of indias population, plus they have strict law and order close to being a police state. The native americans have been reduced to drug addicts and casino owners there, and they are irrelevant in the politics there. So no point in comparing indias situation with any other nation, as india is unique in that respect and we are the worlds largest democracy. We need to look for our own unique answers instrospecting ourselves and not look for solutions outside us. there are none.

Fight Back How do you define nationalism? By getting into this frustrating politics? We have a team to handle this. You only need to realize where you are fitting in. Either you join groups like RAW or Foreign Services(Diplomat) or work really hard for the society you represent. Don't try to be in between as a cheap local youtube comment star by wasting your time. Time invested in constructive work = Progress of India. Hope you understand!

Tarek sir, problem is that India & pakistan both r nuclear powers.India dont want any international intervention in kashmir issue.bt pakistan always provokes India,tries to keep border tense & internationalize the issue.if we Indians stop talking(ie no trade or discussions) to pakistan then international community may say that India is not interested in peace with pakistan.we all know that aman ki asha is hopeless bt we hav to do it to shut international community's mouth.

Hamid Bashani is quite different from Tarek Fateh in style as well as substantive analysies/perspectives on history and current affairs of their motherland: the Indian subcontinent. But beside their adopted liberal country Canada, both are intellectual honest, deeply knowledgeable and gifted in putting forth persuasive logical analyses of highly complex situations. Would be great if the two share a media platform and debate on a regular basis!

@DrJG9
@DrJG9 9 жыл бұрын
20:45 this has happened in more than one cosmopolitan metropolis, from London to Mumbai, and more than one city in India. Often it depends on how strident or civil locals are - speaking Hindi in madras might get one thrashed or worse, but in Mumbai all sorts of Johny come latelys flagrantly disparage everything about local language, so much so their very existence is questioned! Bangalore is somewhere in middle, locals disparage non locals without violence mostly, and outsiders often do learn local language. Calcutta again is sort of comparable to Bangalore in this. NY and other larger cities of US are often a miniature of the world, sometimes with pockets where anyone visiting can stroll about and find yet another cuisine and couture. But importance of regional cultures as seen deep entrenched in Paris, Boston or Wales cannot be denied. Karachi does belong to Sindh, and ought to be reminded of this!

really informative..he is right..we indians always think of a united subcontinent and even though it was long before any of us were born..its still a festering wound even for the youngsters but not sure if pakistan is celebrating the partition like he says...pakistan will be a liability to india as india is a rapidly rapidly growing economy. and a lot of indian soldiers and civilians had given life and been victims for this issue :( .but we are all teh same people.it hurts when terrorism happens in pakistan as well..the common people should realise the ones who are trying to dividie the nations and consider humanity over any man made religion..dont be jealous of india sitting at a distance :(

Replying posts about US vs India from an expat and someone from India:-You are mistaken on both counts. Innocent Sikhs were murdered in US in two days post WTC attacks, by normal US guys, under the misunderstanding that they were of the people who did it; '84 were neither reaction nor riots, those were highly organised massacres, which is why they were not punished; Tavleen Singh refers in her Durbar to the same guys ready to do it again in '91, except they were not ready against the real culprits then. Also, there were major riots re recent Ferguson murder, for which one cannot blame the anguished poor who lost trust, just as happened during Rodney King being beaten to death case twice - once when it happened and again at judgement being soft. Riots in such cases where it wasn't planned are the natural expression of those that lose minds due to grief over an event (and sometimes lose trust in authority). WTC attacks was different, it was shock, incredulity, horror, grief shared by most of the civilised world, just like Diana's death oir JFK murder events. Of course there were looting attacks and vandalism against - of all the things! - Indian communities, but that wasn't publicised in US, it only got a muted print and more word of mouth outlet in Indian community and trickled to India through NRI tales. Divakaruni or Lahiri, one of them wrote it into one work. Or two. The reason why NRI absorbed it silently or decided to return and not shout was understanding of how it feels, due to being at receiving end of same terrorism. He has stayed away long, is apprehensive about reimmersion into what he has not seen change as happens with expats, and so forth - once back it will resolve one way or another. Some find home back and some find it more comfortable to return to the new homeland. It works out in most cases.

Tarik sab good analysis regarding indian people. But what the effected people do for partition. They think that if the tension will be less then thay can take a tour to pakistan where there fore father live. They want to express gratitude & homagebto there for father. But due to tension there heart cry and think that in this life it may not be possible for visiting for father land. As well as they are afraid that again a partisan will not evolved .So they belive continue talk can diminish the tension thats it.

People of India and the subcontinent are stupid to have listened to their leaders. People in this part of world are emotional. They are largely uneducated, and go by their caste, religious feelings. In striking contrast, people of the West are educated, rational. I am a witness to the 9/11 event. I was doing my Fellowship in a place in Midwest (USA) and that is when this happened. The reaction by Americans was one of utter disgust, shock. But nobody took to streets to vandalize anything. Nobody wreaked vengeance on any religious group. Something terrible had happened and all knew that perpetrators belonged to a particular religious denomination and yet they were disciplined,by and large peaceful. I contrast this with what happened after Indira Gandhi's murder by her body guards. The Congress goons wreaked vengeance on the hapless Sikhs in Delhi and other areas while Police looked on. Those who perpetrated the crimes have not yet been punished. India has a long way to go before it can be called a civilized nation.

Of course there were looting attacks and vandalism against - of all the things! - Indian communities, but that wasn't publicised in US, it only got a muted print and more word of mouth outlet in Indian community and tricklked to India through NRI tales. Divakaruni or Lahiri, one of them wrote it into one work. Or two. The reason why NRI absorbed it silently or decided to return and not shout was understanding of how it feels, due to being at receiving end of same terrorism.

21:05 any thought or belief system being a basis for a nation can only happen with a very open culture, with respect from each for most and civility observed. Which precludes stricter systems such as Islam or communism from holding a nation long without deterioration into totalitarian dictatorship with hardship for general population.

He is a knowledgeable man but he is twisting the facts to suite his own agenda .He is biased and dishonest while describing the facts . He has one agenda and that is disintegration of Pakistan . Everything that he says will directly or indirectly support this agenda .
