On this Thursday breakdown Andrew and Jacob are discussing the topic of Monday's episode with Scott Seales about his strategy of targeting mature bucks on feed trees in hill country. Scott's episode had a great response from listeners across the country especially when he talked about targeting the small "tight" SMZ's (stream side management zone) in his part of Alabama. There are A LOT of great takeaway the guys discuss in this episode along with diving in on a few new Q&A's that were submitted on the website.
If you would like to submit a question for our Q&A segment of the podcast then you can click the link below and it will be used on a future episode of the podcast!

The greatest thing about this podcast to me is that "wavelength". Such a difference between a casual hunter and guys that can't stop talking about it. Reminds me of the old camp house conversations at night learning from one another back before any technology was available. I could talk about it all day every day all year!

Love these podcasts, I have learned a ton. I’m a bow only hunter but I’m on a fixed income and can’t afford cameras, or hunting apps, and I don’t have a bunch of nice camo or much of anything really but I still manage tagging bucks almost every year. Thanks to my father for teaching me to scout all year round with boots on the ground.

Awesome podcast! And this is the first time I have heard anyone touch on the fact that so much of the hunting media and information being put out there for everyone is mostly based off of data and info coming from these BIG BUCK STATES out west and it is for the most part useless info for hunting in the southeast! Great podcast!

I only bow hunt and only hunt mornings so I maximize time with my family, figuring that by the time I get home from a morning hunt, the family has only been awake for a few hours. I primarily hunt public land and I am in the stand an hour before first light. There are times when I may spook a deer - but the deer that is in that spot at 4:30am, isn't the deer that I am killing at 7:30am. The deer located where I set up could be a half mile away by first light. By the way, I live in Wisconsin in amongst a lot of agriculture.

Im in alabama and this year im in a spot on public land that the oaks are everywhere i slip hunt most of the time. But i can not figure out where to pinpoint anything because there is not a spot that i dont see acorns. Im thinking about leaving this area and going to a more mixed area with oaks and pines.

In your area it isn’t good enough to just find oaks dropping. You have to look more and find where the deer are really going to feed on acorns. There will be no mistaking those trees

Yea I know what your talking about. I found a tree that had major sign all around it but what I am saying is there are so many other trees dropping that I cant trust that one tree

@@thesouthernoutdoorsmen the ground was torn up and there was like 6 rubs. one being very high and broke off but there was no droppings. I did hunt it one evening but had no luck. I have grown as a hunter over the past 3 years by listening to your pods and watching other people. With that said I dont hunt the same spot twice anymore. I killed 2 nice bucks last year. I used to sit in a climber close to a scrape and hope a deer would come by. Never had any luck doing that. I listened to yall and the guest you have on and switch things up and finally got into seeing bucks on public land. so thanks guys.
