I just listened your president, and he plans to lower taxes for US compagnies producing in the US, therefore it will reduce domestic product prices (supossing the elements composing the good create in US are not imported). ps: I also know some about import/ export.

@@arnaudx2754 depends, if those companies gave away such tax cuts to the consumer. what do you think how many billionaires will pocket this money and dont care. ps the "tariff" game can be played from BOTH ends, funny that. so, if a company is producing for the US and for foreign markets BEFORE the trade wars he DESPERATLY wants (only with the rest of the western world because, as he said in davos, "china is a good partner") and now foreign countries make MY product more expensive you gain a little bit domestic market but losing the export. no problem if the domestic people have ENOUGH money for that. But us citizen are struggling to pay rent and gtoceries, do you see the error of your ways?

@@arnaudx2754 But he is only cutting taxes on the wealthiest corporations. Thereby creating huge monopolies and destroying competition. Smaller companies and all mom and pop businesses will be paying tarriffs without tax relief leaving them in an unsustainable market. Trump is effectively killing all but the few and workers will end up with very little choice for jobs and basically unable to quit. Trump has said he will remove minimum wages so the employers can pay less than 7.25. Trump has said he will increase the work week so employees can work more. He has also said he will remove or extend the age at which people can retire and to get rid of SSI so people can’t retire. Americans have voted themselves into slave labor.

When prices went up during the pandemic, corporations passed 110% of the cost onto customers. The entire cost + a little extra for themselves. They are going to do the exact same thing with tariffs.
@DavidBennell
@DavidBennell 9 минут бұрын
right, the 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico will end up increasing prices more like 30% because you know if you have to change the price you may as well take the opportunity to bump it a little further since you are already taking the pain anyway... And the best-case scenario is that now with the increased price, US companies' alternatives become competitive and can match the new increased import price... but either way that increases the price the consumer pays for it in the end, no way around that.
@Dragonited

... actually, I think you can. If you sell the trade agreement for a transfer of national funds. Aka, a "pay us 20 cents per banana you want to export to us, and we'll give you a free trade agreement. Otherwise, we'll levy a tariff of 40 cents per banana." Just that I don't think this would be well received as a practice, and countries would just go "well sure, then go and screw over your own country's consumers, we'll just export to elsewhere in the meantime". Not entirely sure this would truly be a 'tax' rather than 'national level extortion'.
@valoriethechemist
@valoriethechemist 4 сағат бұрын
@@Alblaka It's not a real tax even doing it in that manner... and ultimately, the local end customer pays. Essentially, ALL of it boils down to debt. Force the consumer to spend more so that their economic success is limited to merely paying the debts and force countries to bring on debt they'll never be capable of repaying so we can control them. We are being chained to the debt created by wealth inequalities of enormous proportions and shackled to wages so there's no escape.

VP Harris said it over and over - I think she said it to Trump's face in their debate, he just said "no, it isn't." Others told Trump too; I remember an economist in one of those events Trump went to during his campaign, told him that tariffs are paid by consumers, he answered, "I don't believe it." So... If you are Trumpist and hear Trump saying over and over and publishing on his platform Agenda 47 that all the world will be paying tariffs to the USA, what would you believe? Trump or the fake media, which you don't watch anyway?

That hat now sells for $15. So thanks to the tariff, that hat now costs an extra $2 - paid by the American customer. Now take that example and multiply it by hundreds of billions throughout all industries. Get ready for prices to skyrocket. A tariff is a tax and it's a tax that 's paid by the consumer. @@waltermasterson Trump's proposed tariffs are not intended to be permanent fixtures of U.S. trade policy but rather tools for negotiation. The idea is to use tariffs as leverage to compel trading partners to make concessions that benefit U.S. industries and address unfair trade practices. This strategy puts pressure on other nations to reduce barriers to U.S. exports, eliminate subsidies that disadvantage American companies, or agree to more equitable terms in trade agreements. By implementing or threatening tariffs, the goal is to create a sense of urgency for other countries to come to the negotiating table. Once the desired agreements are reached, the tariffs can be reduced or removed, making them a temporary measure designed to shift the balance of trade in favor of the United States. This approach aims to secure long-term economic advantages without committing to long-term protectionist policies.

@@DimaRakesahespecially as cost of living and labour laws means things produced in the US will always be more expensive than places like China and the third world. All tariffs can do is make those external options expensive enough to the American consumer to match US manufactured stuff. But the difference in cost is so vast it will just massively reduce demand anyway. Meanwhile there’s other markets for these countries, so whilst yes there will be harmed, it won’t be anywhere near as much as the US will be harmed. The sad thing is how they never understand or think this through. Thinking external governments pay for access on a tariff basis is just insane and detached from reality. Or that making American manufacturing competitive will mean everyone will keep their quality of life. We’re all used to having incredibly complex things for incredibly low prices, and I don’t think people realise that’s only down to being able to get things for cheap through third world labour.

The absurdity does not even end there, the idea is that we are going to manufacture here only and that any food product from overseas will instead be grown here as well. Not only do we have hundreds of factories that we depend on overseas, if we decided to just build the same amount here that would take years and trillions of dollars that we do not have. By then prices will be taller than a skyscraper, and people will be very hungry and angry.

And ultimately, that's what made this person even consider the idea that their beliefs may be wrong. I feel, we as one humankind on earth, need more of such conversations; loving, open, honest, without aggression, simply debating over what we believe is true. This may not have been an exchange where they saw eye to eye, and of course patience in itself is already implying that one person has a higher standard of knowledge than the other. But everyone walked away at the very least neutral, at best happy or with some thoughts brewing within them, or both! And this, everhbody, is worth so much. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

That kid made a point that Trump till this day doesn’t understand. Buying cheap low quality stuff made by workers working for nothing isn’t bad. Same applies to things that are important for the country like energy from Canada or technology, or rare early materials from Greenland. It’s a privilege to have access to these and buy them at low cost. And you know what we have smart people doing research in economics and trade since many years. What do they say?

"The consumer bears the cost." Absolutely! Three outcomes of the import under tariff: (1) the importer absorbs the increased cost of the tariff, (2) the importer absorbs part of the increased cost and passes the remainder to the American consumer and (3) the total cost increase cost is passed through to the America consumer. Which is scenario is most likely to occur (1), (2), or (3)? A possible knock on effect of tariffs. The price of an identical product made in the USA will rise to meet the new cost of the imported product subject to the tariff.

My Hypothesis. Donny thinks that China is SO eager to be in the US market that they will send product anyway. THEN He thinks the US consumer will pay the price. THEN his idea is to take the money he "Skimmed" and use it to........ ? MAYBE Bail out the failing US industry? Build factories to compete with China? ....... That MIGHT work until... 1) The US public figure out THEY are being screwed [although on the evidence here.... they might not?] or 2) The Chinese think "Hold on!! OUR reputation is being tarnished! AND he's using OUR product to build competition!!" Then THEY might decide to use "inside sources" to blow the whistle... OR They might just say "We have PLENTY of market Globally, DO NOT send the product to USA" THEY will make exactly the same profit selling their "Overproduction" to The Global South" (AKA "the Global MAJORITY")

This is one person out of millions. I am so happy that he listened and seemed to grasp this one issue. Hopefully, he will continue to listen to reasonable people and learn. We have been trying to tell them and explain it to them in every possible way, but since so many of them perceive us as the "enemy," they refuse to listen and bury their heads in the sand.

This was legendary! To be fair, I don't think the poor bloke was a MAGA-MAGA, he was just republican, and not understanding. He was polite, and actually trying to participate in the discussion.

It boggled my mind that anyone thinks this is how tariffs work. How the hell would we be able to force a country to PAY us to buy their goods, like how does that make any sense, thatd be like me going into a mcdonalds and saying to the cashier "ill only eat the big mac if you pay me 5 bucks to do so" like they would laugh at me and carry on

The country of "FACTORY" comes to you and says "Our global price for Widgets is $10... That' s our BEST price" You say "We have 20% "Tariff" ....YOU pay it! We'll give you $8!" They'll be gone before you know it.

I am SO happy you made this video! Unfortunately, I think many people are under the misconception that these tariffs imposed on foreign goods are "punishing" the foreign countries. However, the fact is the ultimate outcome is we the Americans will and already bearing the costs of these tariffs, such as goods are not longer as cheap as they were at Walmarts, Costco, Department stores...etc. ....I just wish thr TV stations also promote this information so the people can see through the lies.

Yeah. Of course it depends on the business and the industry, but I think people don’t realize how much there is in place to protect people. Even workplace harassment laws are vastly more comprehensive than most people realize, and I know this because I have to take a harassment course every year. And then I talk to randos, and their idea of what is legal in the workplace is wildly off.

Not all workers in America get the same benefits, for sure, but as a generalization, some of our poorest working conditions pale in comparison to China's worst. All I'm saying is that the US have made laws against sweatshops that are at least enforced.
