Can you be free when at birth you're indoctrinated by the nuclear family, then by your peers, then by your sexual desires? And at every stage by your age(hormones etc), geography(climate), the Zeitgeist, your sex, etc etc. When all's said and done what's left of your freedom? And even on a simple level, how can Tariq Ramadan claim that wearing a Burqa is a women's freedom to choose? When if women had been free they would choose to be sexually desirable? You could make the argument that since women grow old it's better to wear a Burqa coz then women at least wouldn't miss it later on and in an Abrahamic religion a woman would be for one man only and hence other men ought not to look at her anyway is that freedom when it, as is customary in many Muslim areas, wouldn't make her desirable to other men and since she doesn't have a choice anyway...? And in Western cultures where (according to Weber) out of one brand of Judaism came capitalism if women make themselves to desirable other women, who from chattel have 'evolved' to whores, may become jealous that they would steal or compete for their survival to procreate if they became too sexually desirable, to avoid hostility between women don't do as they would normally do since men appreciate sexually desirability. Isn't religion and all the spin-offs they inspired then an abomination to natural law since women ' choose' either to be chattel as is the case with religion or ' choose' money in the case of capitalism. Isn't that thwarting natural law( or Allah's law as Muslims would call it)? And aren't we devolving and dehumanising as a consequence?
