This is the first Lockett interview I’ve ever watched and that dude is immediately evident as an incredible human. Nate thank you so much for putting this together, Great questions and you both knocked it out of the park with this.

Another great interview. For 7 days in a row now I have woke up, got a cup of coffee and listened to a Nate interview or lesson. This one I started out scratching my head. Why is this guy talking in 3rd person? It was still entertaining. Through it all he had great things to say, and when TaRon showed up he had alot of great things to say, especially at the very end. I wasn't sure who he was and then saw he played with Cory Henry. I saw Cory with Snarky Puppy and anyone he puts in his drum chair is probably prolific. So now I will get my Funk Apostles cd out and listen to him deep. TaRon, I am going to be 63 this. When you said at the end "Take your time", that really resonated with me. Thank you!

He's funny. I can see how Prince was comfortable working with him. The "other" persona feature was a nice kickoff for the video--to me. 'Zombie' by Fela Kuti. Just checked that out for nearly 5 minutes. The hi-hat, and other parts of the drum sing around one another. But the pulse doesn't feel so manipulated. I wonder what he means on the last bit about "everyone playing it wrong." Maybe there was a lot of interpretations of it that wasn't accurate...? Also surprised I didn't hear about this song considering how many drummers I studied with. Sounds cool. I mean it's Fela, right? ~Water No Get Enemy~

He’s riiiight 34:26. I’ll be 60 next year and I’m actually waaaay better than I was 30 years ago. As a matter of fact I can play everything I couldn’t play back then. But now, I’m just way more tasteful and I’ve developed understanding that many time less is more and if it doesn’t serve the music I ain’t doing my job.
