“Why do you women.....?” Is he serious?? I love how you also think in Tarot currency, I thought it was just me 😝

Just want to thank you for mentioning the FB group "Tarot with scissors". I've just become acquainted with the ideas of modifying and personalizing a Tarot Deck.

What an interesting topic! I totally agree with you on the reason behind the modifying being the form of connecting. I know I do it because I feel the borders are on the way to the image.. There are many decks I wouldn't even imagine to trim, no need.. And edging.. well- this is totally for aesthetic purposes for me :D Love your modified decks, especially the Linestrider- wow it now looks so magical with the backings! And OMG the Cat People tarot! I have never seen it trimmed... Now I will go look at my Cat People if they will get a trim also.

Omg, that guy!!! He got me riled up and I was a little passive aggressive with him because this issue is dear to my heart and that's exactly why I'm offering a class at the next Readers Studio on this very thing. How most of us modify decks to connect with them even better. Thank you for making this video... I loved it!!❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘

great idea...wish I was in a deck mod class - so fun!

I like to mod some of my decks for a couple of reasons. First it's a great way to get to know a deck and bond with it and secondly to finish a deck. I just started working with The Raven's Prophesy and I could not see the deck as a finished piece of art without blacking the edges. I don't understand why some people think this is weird or wrong. We are just making decks our own.

I enjoyed your story. Scissors and such ... ouch! 😲 Excellent: "paper with images" and "put them in perspective" 💎

Yeah the first cut is intimidating. Next year when you're deep-diving into your collection I'll bet we can get you to try it out!

I did trim everything off of one copy of the Wildwood tarot and I "squared" (like Veronica Jude) a cheap RWS clone ... both worked out for me ☮️

Funny how the top card from the Raven's Prophecy was scissors, lol.
@layercakearts7 жыл бұрын
Haha I didn't even notice the scissors! Hey will you post the square RWS? Are you using it? Been thinking about trying a square deck.
@slipthetrap7 жыл бұрын
I will post the square RWS(I do use it, sometimes directionally too) whenever I escape from the wild woods, lol.

The backing of your decks are gorgeous! I may have to try that on my Wildwood, maybe we'll connect better after a trim and backing ? I'll let you know if I take the leap ! Thank you for sharing, you did a magnificent job!

Thank you, thank you! I hope you'll try it, I'll admit it's addicting and you begin to look at EVERY deck like "hmmm, wonder how you might look with a tiny haircut?" Give it a go, you can always re-order from Amazon if it doesn't work, haha!

I read that article a while back...whatevs..everybody's entitled to their own stupid opinion (lol) - I'm a hardcore modifier and I have plenty of decks which are fine the way they are, but I love my trimmed and edged decks...Thoth, Druidcraft, Ceccoli, Mary-El, and just edged with multicolors to match the backs...I did my Tarot of Delphi with mostly black and a little gold on the edges - hi again Jack... only corner-punched my Daniloff - oooo Raven's prof w/black backs YUMMY. your contact paper decisions were perfection! here's my aggrivation: mostly my trimmed decks are harder to shuffle :( boo...and the epic-mod-fail when you do all the work and you hate how it comes out, or you use the wrong type of marker without spot-checking..or in my case where the stupid deck was just a stupid deck and no matter what I did to it...still a stupid deck...(Royo dark, and I'm still trying and failing with it).

Thank you! Tarot decks run when they see me coming with scissors. I get my bags from Amazon, 4 bags for $8.95, yay! Not sure if this link will work, but we'll try... www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y15RK7Q/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I2FS1GPL80IAVZ&colid=MEFGB78DN0VV&psc=0

"Circumcision"? He was taking deck modding personally, methinks. I don't mod my decks but it doesn't bother me that other people mod theirs. If these were antiquarian books, and people were cutting out plates or taking glitter glue to the pages....that would be another thing. But that's not what this is. There were some great decks and books that came out in the 80s. Wish I still had them all! Found your channel via Lavender Moon.

My first thought when you mentioned the angry manchild was that he may have been projecting his anger towards his mother for having done that to his privates, onto women being creative with something he probably loves nearly as much. There really is no place for people having a problem with those exercising their creativity with their own possessions. I've been modifying objects since childhood, it's how I became an artist. I never came across anyone having a problem with this practice, but then, there's always someone that will get their panties in a twist over nothing.

Seems silly to me none of these look used and loved, just collected! I realize this is some kinda thing but as a woman I do find it VERY odd , I feel like connection comes with use like a good pair of jeans . Pretty collection though

What a dope. Other than communion and aesthetics, I trim my cards because 1) I have very small hands for a grown woman and even average size cards are a bit too big for me, and 2) I have nerve damage in both hands and any kind of fine motor skill work can wreck my hands and cause me great pain. Many people have pain/stiffness issues with their hands. So tell that guy to stop being so sexist and ableist. lol
@fireoftransformation98267 жыл бұрын
The guy was a jerk, life is full of them unfortunatelly. I can do whatever I want with my decks, modify them, cut them ir throw them away. I might modify a deck out of pure boredom, I dont even need a ''serious'' reason - my deck my business :D

Right?? He was a pretty self righteous dude, and unfortunately booting him from the FB group probably made him feel vindicated but whatev's... He's already forgotten!
