The AppliedAICourse attempts to teach students/course-participants some of the core ideas in machine learning, data-science and AI that would help the participants go from a real world business problem to a first cut, working and deployable AI solution to the problem. For the problem statement of having little data is it a good idea to up-sample data in manner preserving the statistical property of that dataset? How to approach that type of a problem statement? Is synthetic data a good approach?

You could try multiple approaches: use simpler models with regularisation, transfer learning, data augmentation including synthetic data, self supervised learning like Transformers, Few shot learning approaches, custom loss functions etc.

What is the range of package a data scientist would get for his experience range?

The range would be very wide based on the company, the skills that the candidate can showcase, the prior background experience and how well he has done in the interviews. The range could be from 15 LPA to the 1.5 Cr per annum. The higher end is mostly for software engineers at top product based companies who are transitioning into Machine learning careers at similar companies in India.

And also what is the difference between MLE, Data Engineer and MLOps Person, is MLE supposed to be like a full stack guy expected to know everything? 1 Cr per annum in India as base salary for developers?

Directly going to machine learning careers will give you more relevant experience and a faster growth path then going through the SDE route. There are a lot of top product based companies where 1 Cr+ gross compensation for software developers is common at SDE3 and above with 7+ yrs of experience. @@AppliedAICourse So for MLE roles in terms of Data Structures algorithm will it be as hard as an SDE role in the sense questions of Graph Algorithms and Dynamic Programming Problems? I looked at the slides of the Video it covers Data Analyst, Scientist, Applied Scientist and MLE role hence asked. I wasn't aware that you can make 1Cr salary gross in India that too for employees.

Only in top product based companies if you are from CS background. Otherwise, no. Many of our cofounders peers are in the 1Cr-3.5Cr compensation range in top product based companies in India in ML roles. Of course, it is not trivial to get there. It requires excellence and continuous learning at the highest levels.

Hello Applied Ai, I have a question .I want to get a job in data science, But I have heard that number of ML/AI roles are very few in the industry and it is pretty hard for a fresher to get a job in this field. And they pay less to freshers too. So,what will be your advice to a fresher ? Get a job like web developer and then try for this field? Or one should directly try for this field if he/she is confident about learning ML very well.

Freshers with good projects and strong foundations can easily get a job in ML. The number of roles is certainly fewer than software engineers. If you anyways want to get into a career in ML, doing so directly makes more sense as you’ll have more relevant experience in the future.

Sir, may I know how much salary one can expect with 7+ experience as a manager of a public sector bank ( non-technical background ). I do understand that I do not have any experience as a programmer. I m good at Math and learning programming languages like Python wouldn't be much difficult for me. If you can leverage your experience and expertise in Banking and Financial services and build core ML skills on top of it, you can comfortably get a good hike on top of your current compensation. But, you will have to put in good effort to learn programming and ML from scratch.
