Yeah, Tarzan was born in Africa after his parents were mutinied, according to the canonical books. In most versions though, he arrived in Africa as a small child via a vehicle crash (boats in classic versions and planes in recent ones).

The mutineer boss spared the parents for favor of not telling ships captain about revolver gotten stolen from their room, and thus the parents got off-shore where Lord Graystoke (Tarzan's father) built the safehouse. I also got good laughs about other book accuracy related details Dingo used in their animation (namely, great BULLape leader shooting the gun, Tarzan inventing a new game with the rope noose, and the mentioned "learning to read by reading"... though in the version I finished it was stated in details on how Tarzan saw the letters as bugs and starting to "big braining" what letter combinations meant what).

I find the voicework pretty charming. They obviously aren't 100% fluent in English, and the dialogue is confusing sometimes, but some of their line deliveries are hilarious. That said, I was totally blown away in one of the other videos that included the credits to find out there's actually like a dozen voice actors for these movies. I thought it was just 3 people doing all the voices, since so many of them sound so similar.

Pocahontas had the credits IIRC, but I'm fairly certain they were for the German version, hence the dozen voice actors listed when the English dub feels like 3 people (2 guys and a woman who also voices guys for some reason), or literally IS 2 persons in the case of the East West dub.

I know! It's really kind of jarring to me how much of a step up this is. It's still mostly hovering around CD-I Zelda game cutscene level but like, if you look at the shot of baby Tarzan falling backwards out of the tree they put a lot of frames in and used perspective and everything. I'd actually go so far as to call it a pretty good execution of a complex motion. It's really kind of freaking me out.

Not sure if someone pointed this out already, but I believe the reason Tarzan, oops I mean, lords mom calls him butt-butt at one point is because in German she most likely says ' aber, aber.. ' wich is a phrase used to calm upset children sort of like 'there there, little one'. However since 'aber' means 'but' in German they translated the phrase to 'but, but' but do to their weird pronouncian it sounds rather different. It's just dingo being inept at translating in the most humerus ways

I believe Dingo is trying to follow the original novel over the Disney version because there are elements here that mirror the book... poorly. Dingo adds them in, but don't really explain the context to those things so it doesn't make any sense (Like Jane's father being oblivious to what's around him and Tarzan reading).

My theory is that this is actually a prequel to Lion and the King. Sheena missed being a mother so much she got together with the Black Panther, who agreed to sire Mewmew in exchange for a gorilla army. Dragon went along with this because he really mellowed out after coming back from the dead. Keno was King M'God's original name, and the Panther's diamond mining caused massive deforestation.

I actually emailed Worldwide Voices (who Dingo lists on their website) and they forwarded me to Ludwig Ickert's email, then the email sent me this: "Hello The animation company dingo-pictures I worked for is not existing anymore because the Owner R. Haas died two years ago" (I didn't put in the bad grammar, they are a German company after all) So apparently one of the Dingo duo has died. May his soul rest in peace.

Butt Butt was most likely not a naming fluke. In german but means aber. When a child crying because of a triviality grown ups say aber-aber, meaning that it is not that bad to warrant crying. Also, eating someone with skin and hair means to eat someone whole in german. Which can also be used jokingly and affectionatly. The people at dingo probably didn't accounted for the fact that this are exclusevely german figures of speech.

The explosion was from Golden Films’ Pocahontas, not Dingo (which explains a lot).

The PS1 version of this had all the moments where the "voice actors" accidentally called Lord, Tarzan crudely and obviously muted.

Intestering information. The PS2 version of The Toys Room did something similar where they muted Charlie Chip being referred to as a Game Boy (in the German version, dunno if the English version does as it's also muted at that point).

This is fairly uncharacteristic of Dingo, who often don't care who they kill off. Why the world would they keep the villain alive? They even set up the scene for him to get mobbed and eaten by a herd of animals!
