Outstanding man, mastery over the Way of the Proxy and Glide. Absolutely love the maniac moves to get up on Gnasty's path.

That was truly impressive from start to finish. Alpine Ridge, Tree Tops and that wall glide around the pillar in Dream Weavers were probably my favourite parts of this run. Very nice work! :)

This was amazing all around but the CS into the instant jump and the video immediately ending is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in a TAS

Thanks! Definitely a fair few hours were put into this and I'm so glad I could finish this run and those hours weren't in vain.

Watching you clear out High Caves on a single supercharge was honestly extremely satisfying to watch. Consider me impressed. I absolutely did not think nearly as much of this game could be completed without jumping, but you knocked it out with style.

When I started making this TAS I definitely wasn't convinced I could finish it, and it definitely came down to the wire in several spots. Thankfully the physics in this game are so interesting and just the perfect amount of broken.

Figuring out how to get up those stairs in Alpine Ridge was one of the most difficult parts in the whole run. The rest of the level was surprisingly easy, at least in comparison.

Alpine Ridge was unhinged bro... aaaand I take that statement back after I saw High Caves. That Wizard's Peak run was anxiety inducing...... aaaaand AGAIN I take my statement back. WHAT THE BLOOMING SAUCE WAS THAT TREE TOPS?! XD That was insane bro! I love it.

Funny you should mention that particular point, because when I was doing this I was thinking the same thing. I didn't think I could get Maximos, the dragon up there. Originally I left Dry Canyon without getting him. I started doing Cliff Town, but then I actually counted how many dragons I could afford to skip. In order to get to Dream Weavers you can skip at most 8 dragons (if I remember correctly), and I had already skipped 5 in Artisans. So I really had no choice but to go back to Dry Canyon and try again, and I got all the dragons there and almost every single one after that point. So the place you mention was actually a big turning point me mentally. It went from "let's see if I can get these things" to "let's try our very best to get as much as we can", and I certainly wouldn't have finished the run with the former mindset.

Now do 120% without jumping. I look forward to seeing how you get into every Return Home vortex without jumping, Gnasty's Loot won't open if you don't do that.

Im just curious what are all the sideways bunper roll inputs for, especially when freeing dragons?

The ones when rescuing dragons, entering portals, etc., are just for fun, they don't really offer any advantage for a TAS. Maybe you realized this already, but the TAS often uses rolls against things like sloped surfaces and fodder hitboxes to gain height. In those situations there's a functional purpose for the rolls, and there's a good chance this run wouldn't have been possible without rolling.

Seeing a jumpless max% run would be interesting but making one would be an arduous task. At times I was already getting pretty frustrated doing this...

@Peteguy100
@Peteguy100 Жыл бұрын
I decided to make this any% because when I started working on this I didn't know if even that would be possible, and going for max% would've taken a lot more time. There's a lot more that could be collected, but I doubt 120% would ever be achieved. For example, with my current knowledge I can't imagine a way to get past the very beginning of Gnorc Cove.

It's the same kind of flop that happens at 30:56, I just glide out of it before the flop animation starts so it looks like a quick jump.

Oh wait, you used proxy jumps. Jump is in the name, so therefore you've failed your challenge.
@Peteguy100
@Peteguy100 3 ай бұрын
The term proxy jump isn't really used in the Spyro community, they're referred to as just proxies. I did use a mechanic called supercharge autojumps though, so there's that. I defined jumping as pressing/holding X while Spyro is grounded and not in a menu, because I felt like it was the closest I could get to an objective definition, but you can definitely argue that supercharge autojumps shouldn't have been allowed. I don't think they were necessary to get through any of the levels, but they did make some parts a lot more convenient. Regarding your other comment, you don't actually need to go through any of the end of level vortexes to open Loot. You would have to go through the vortex in Gnorc Cove though to open the Twilight Harbor head. Overall, a jumpless 120% might be possible, but you'd have to figure out some very tricky things like how to get out of the starting area of Town Square.
