Legacy of the Wizard (1987), released in Japan as "ドラゴンスレイヤーIV Dragon Slayer IV: Drasle Family", is actually a part of Dragon Slayer ( en.wikipedia.o... ) series. This is a nonlinear platforming adventure game, in which you gain control over one member of the Drasle family to explore the vast dungeon filled with mind bending puzzles and obscure secrets.
The goal of the game is to retrieve a powerful sword named Dragon Slayer, protected by four magical crowns, to kill an evil dragon trapped in the nearby labyrinth. Each member of the family has different abilities, and the portion of the labyrinth only he/she can go into to retrieve one of the crowns. However, this prerequisite was circumvented by the clever use of certain glitches.
Lord Tom ( tasvideos.org/... ) improves on his previous run ( tasvideos.org/... ) by 58 seconds through more intense RNG manipulation in order to get the required items faster and better resource management. For more details, you can read the author's notes here ( tasvideos.org/... ).
This movie has a full Atlas Map encode ( • TAS: Legacy of the Wiz... ), which shows the standard encode overlaid on a zoomed out map. The KZbin encode also includes the author's commentary in the form of subtitles.

This is my CHILDHOOD holy shit. I've been trying to tell people about this game for over 30 years and no one's ever heard of it. This is my favorite TAS video, hands down.

Because it is composed by Yuzo Koshiro, a teenager at the time. He also composed soundtracks for Streets of Rage 1, 2, & 3, Revenge of Shinobi, Sonic the Hedgehog for Sega Master System and many other retro and modern console games.

Addendum: I would like to see a 100% run at some point, of all chests and maybe 1 of each item (maybe not health/magic potions from stores, since that gold should be used for something special like the shield.)

@@Baximus I'm planning a 100% chests, 100% kills run (every enemy spawn point killed at least once during the run), and will further have each character get their own crown so all 5 are used. Getting all the chests supplies every item but the shield, so that would be the only one bought from a store.

@@LordTom77 I actually forgot you can get one of every item from chests, I forgot the magic key was found that way. I'm looking forward to it! Edit: Oh no, I just realized 100% kills means going into all the useless side rooms. The planning is going to be hell.

I could come close, but I couldn't ever beat the last of the 4 bosses to get to the final boss. I had to use a cheat code!

I played this game as a kid and it used to piss me off to end because it was a trade and it didn't come with instructions. Watching this game get aced is...just wow.
