[TAS] PSX Wipeout by Napoleon in

Hi, I'm the author of this TAS. I see some comments/complains about the 1st person view instead of the 3rd person view you might be more used to when playing the game yourself. Here are some comments about it : The 1st person view is around 1 meter ahead of the 3rd person view, and switching back and forth between the view is a net loss in terms of progress. Each time you switch view, you either don't move (switch from 3rd person to 1st person), or you are shifted backwards (from 1st person to 3rd person). I found no strategy where switching to 3rd person view is a net gain. It is not even possible to trick the power-up roulette with this technique as switching view freezes the roulette for 1 frame, i.e. roughly as much as the time lost by moving your ship backwards. Finally, there are at least some humans who prefer playing in 1st person view... including myself. 🙂 I hope you enjoyed the TAS.

Sometimes the authors see these comments. Hey OP, could you upload these track times for ghost laps? It's not enough that I get disheartened when I'm beaten by a second or two in a self-race. If I'm going to get beaten, I'd rather it be destroyed by minutes via the fastest possible time.

I like how people complain about the first person view, as if TAS'es generally are visually super enjoyable to watch... Not taking anything away from the author, of course!

I mean... yeah, they _are_ generally super enjoyable to watch. That's the point. That's why we watch them. It sounds like you're defending the video by saying it's not supposed to be entertaining, which leaves me curious as to what you believe it _is_ supposed to be. I'm not trying to argue and I'm not someone who is upset by the perspective choice, I'm just genuinely confused by your comment because it seems contradictory.

@@sammer1097 I was referring to the super sped up, the action 52 or the totally glitched out runs. Of course they can still be fun, but they're not exactly visually pleasing. The half-life speedruns tend to make me nauseous, for instance. This run is very smooth in comparison, yet people complain...
