Patch created by Barbarian
Final time 50419 frames and 15990 rerecords.
This is a tool assisted speedrun. Tools such as save states, frame advance, memory watching, and lua scripts for brute force searching were used to circumvent my definite lack of skill to play like this.
A big thank you to Barbarian for all of his Kaizo levels. This one is challenging for both players, speedrunners, AND TASers alike.

Seriosuly, using a TAS editor is anoying, but when you see your result, you can't help but think "I am awesome"!

You only have that feeling for the first few long TASes. After that all I can do is scrutinize every little mistake. There were a few places where I would spend a lot of time on short term gains and not see the better long term ideas. Watching the run in full speed is sometimes the best proofreading. If it doesn't look right, it is usually not. 2:42->2:45 could have been 20 frames faster if I wasted a couple frames in the level before. 6:55->7:30 was f*ing crazy, spent 4 days there just trying to find the best time to take damage 8:05->8:16 if I did stay big from the level before I may have been able to glitch through two walls 8:25->8:32 could have been 1 second faster 8:49->8:53 could have been 8 frames faster Now, do I want to spend another month to redo this run, just to save a few seconds?

joshua Like that in many places. Check out 4:58 and how long the clock stays and 289. It is the clock, not video editing. Happens in the original SMB3 too, sometimes for up to 3 seconds.

Ok so in this link (pastebin.com/RFss7BXN), whenever I press no input when mario's speed is 40, and after that when I press the L button, his speed goes from 40 to 39 instead of 40 to 38. Any suggestions on how to get mario's speed to 40-38-36-etc?

Nice job dude! I got all the way to level 9 in TASing Kami Bros. You definitely did some strats that I didn't think of, but I did figure out a lot of em out myself, which makes me feel good.

Thank you Isaiah. I wish I had found more more strats but I think there are still plenty of place I could improve. Wish the levels could have been more susceptible to glitching. I should have wall-jumped in a few places I didn't even think of. Could find a better place to take damage in level 9 (very hard decision there). Can improve level 10 by a bit and the fortress after level 10 by at least 1 second. I told Barbarian I could improve it by 5 seconds. More like 10.

1:44 Those wall jumps off the edges of the pits are totally swag, right? At least it seems like Mario can clear them without problem, and there doesn't seem to be any need for delaying his speed

Yes, swag only. You could never make it to the door fast enough. I wanted to keep my P-speed for after I went through the door and this was more interesting than watching me run back and forth on 1 platform. I did find out later that I was losing frames in this area. The ceiling does not drop as fast while the screen is scrolling. I need to redo this run.

From 3:14 to 3:23 how didn't Mario die on this scene because the fish moves both ways and Mario was under water?

Fish only damages you while its mouth is visible over water. Even then the hitbox can be easily dodged.

You need to land on the seam between two blocks. It is more difficult to do on SMB3 than SMB1. The wall only holds you for 1 frame before you fall.

@@jesselewis8247 No, it's not. You have to land between a 16x16 tile. If you did that, Mario will clip into the wall for a frame (1/60th of a second). That frame is the frame you have to jump, otherwise, the trick will fail.
