Massive respect for this one! Just a couple of question: what's the reason behind the choice of monster tricks? Why did you decide to do a Slinger instead of a Stoneage, for example? And why did you "mess up" intentionally the first of the series of loops at the end? Again, congratulations for this achievement!
@Daggy8984 жыл бұрын
As far as I remember, I do two Slingers in this run - one is because doing a Stoneage and having to validate it would make it impossible to get the next jump the way I want it, and the other is because I want to be in a specific stance going into a section. As far as Alpine Star vs. Stoneage, Alpine Star gives more points so whenever possible without making other compromises, I'll substitute an SA for an AS. About the loop, it's actually impossible to do this strat on your first loop rail hit. You need to be going the other way because of how the momentum works. So you can do something like just going past the loop rail and then jumping onto the end of it and taking it back uphill, but doing like this is both faster and worth more points. In a run where time is this crucial, that jump which seems "failed" is the only option that will work.

Phenomenal TAS! Huge milestone for SM. Let's hope we get to see 12M in a real run soon too. Do you have any plans on TASing some other freestyle tracks?
@Daggy8984 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mystic! Yeah, I'm cheering for Fliper, even telling him he should consider trying that X-X on the 5x, it's truly not as bad as it may look. And yeah for sure, not sure exactly which ones but I kind of want to usher in a new age of SSX freestyle TASing since none has taken place post-Koei.

If it makes you feel better this is a TAS, so Daggy isn't actually playing at full speed, he's using emulator tools to make something epic. Even so, Daggy is a god at the game normally.

This is a TAS, which means tool assisted. So basically he's telling the computer what buttons to press every frame. So basically it's not a human doing it, but it's still fun to see what we cant do

Till this day I am so confused how you get more monster tricks in just one jump like wtf it doesn't work for me??
@Daggy8984 жыл бұрын
It's a technique called frame cancelling, check out this video by my friend Rithek to learn about it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnLamI2urbaIpNU

What does tas do, exactly?
@Daggy8984 жыл бұрын
TAS stands for Tool Assisted Speedrun (or Superplay in this case). The tool(s) you use when TASing are a whole mixed bag and you can get as fancy with it as you like. You still use savestates like in a segmented run, which basically means you can save your status anywhere in the run and start from that point anytime you want, so you can try a jump as many times as you want. You can slow down the game to 50% speed or lower if you want more precision, I don't do this very often but other SSX TASers like Kelecat do this a lot. You can pause the game and advance one frame at a time which enables precision that a human couldn't ever hope for. And between each frames you can also make inputs that would be impossible for a human too, for instance you can tap a button way faster than a human could ever hope to.
@Elsalover4 жыл бұрын
You must of had slowed down your emulation or never get no sleep How do you survive 😂😂😂😂
@Daggy8984 жыл бұрын
Well, this was a 12-hour project, but nah I did get sleep that day :P I did this the day after having one of my exams, so it's fair to say I was pretty fried at that point. Anyway, I use a mixture of savestates, frame advance and slowdown (mostly 50%) during the "creation" phase to hand-craft the run. While I'm doing that, the emulator is recording all of these inputs. So, when I load the save state again it runs everything back at full speed. That's basically how it works, at least in essence.
@Elsalover4 жыл бұрын
But you must of produced the real life speed emulation after you played this at like 10%speed IDFK or don't care
