TASBot plays Legend of Zelda, or kids react to nostalgia, or Link luck manips (titles are hard, yo)

TASBot plays tasvideos.org/3... - NES The Legend of Zelda (USA PRG0) in 22:17.53 by Lord Tom
I don't exactly know what to title this - come for the TASBot console verification, stay for DefeneSam and Wrentendo reacting to nostalgia? Watch Link luck manipulate his way through this classically hard game with absurd success? Come watch slack-jawed as TASBot plays the dungeons in all kinds of strange orders? All I know is Lord Tom really did a good job of this TAS. He also did a good job of describing it in his submission notes at tasvideos.org/5... complete with memory addresses he monitored and full explanations of the vast number of glitches he employed. (Yes, that's side-scrolling Link shooting at Ganon in the thumbnail, but it's easier to show that way.)

@@dwangoAC Personally I would never showcase my kids on KZbin or anywhere online. Regardless of your reasoning to do so, it's exploitative as they are still unaware of exactly what is happening or the possible results of appearing publicly for a large audience. Just be aware of how many creeps are out there.
@dwangoAC
@dwangoAC 5 жыл бұрын
@@Iliek I definitely wouldn't use the word exploitive. I have unusually cognizant kids and DefeneSam is nearly at an age where he can stream on his own should he choose to do so. Don't be fooled by Wrentendo, she may look small and cute but she's older than you might think and is often the one who pushes the hardest to stream, like that time she cooked dinner. They have both been to AGDQ events so they understand the size of the audience and I've impressed upon them the importance of safety online (in part why we never use real names on stream). Everything we do is within the guidelines of Twitch and KZbin policies around content featuring minors and I never ask them to be fake or act like something they aren't. The extended family is aware of and comfortable with the presence all of us have online and we did not start streaming carelessly. I absolutely appreciate that many family dynamics are not conducive to kids in a publicly visible situation and it's not a good fit for everyone but we seem to be finding the right balance. If in the future something arises that warrants attention you can be sure that the kids will always be the highest priority and I'll adjust course as needed. I can tell you are writing out of genuine concern and I honestly appreciate that.

@@dwangoAC Thank you for the reply. Perhaps one could say I'm over-protective of my children and personally think the internet is no place for any child as it's far too easy to be exposed to disturbing and degenerate media and personalities. There are many depressed, depraved people who spend a lot of time online with no real understanding or care for family life and I hate the idea of children being exposed to such people. Twitch alone has quite a high number of personalities I would never want them to be exposed to. I think you're a good Dad overall and like how involved with them you are. Still, I strongly believe the internet is no place for children as it's impossible to completely control what they see and who they interact with online.

I think there are a couple places in the run where you mention lag frames, but many of them are actually pause manipulations. Like 17:27; you can see the Select button light up on the TASBot. "He needs 7" in reference to pieces of the Triforce. Gamer cred lost, Dwango.

There's 3 triforces, wisdom, courage, and power. Ganon had the power triforce, and courage was broken up into 8 pieces and scattered throughout the dungeon. Zelda had the wisdom triforce. Also, Link, Zelda, and Ganon each represent their triforce counterparts. You've guys have ruined the story for our kids with all the speed running lol.

No idea if someone else mentioned it yet, @DwangoAC, but at around 10:37 when he damage boosts he uses the Blue Bubble to boost himself forward, and as you should know (but in case you don't), touching bubbles does NOT inflict any damage to Link.
