TASBot plays Pokemon Blue NSC but this video is only

You have to train hard to be the very best! ...A level 9 Weedle should do the trick.
This TAS of Pokemon Blue by gifvex follows the NSC route - NSC refers to No Save Corruption, a category which disallows corrupting saves by resetting the console mid-save. Despite this limitation gifvex's run still manages to complete the game in 10 minutes and 12 seconds. Something is definitely afoot, but you'll have to watch to find out what (or read the submission notes linked below).

Things I learned from this video: -People have very strong opinions about the gen 1 starters. -A level 5 Spearow can't KO a level 9 Weedle with one critical Peck, you need to use two non-critical Pecks. -Even TASBot goes over estimate sometimes.

"Bulbasaur is the worst starter" You can tell they are playing it differently than a normal play through. Otherwise, Bulbasaur is the strongest starter, as he is effective against more gyms and more of the story based battles in the game. So.....

When they say worst starter, they mean because of the starting battles. Not because of his effectiveness against battles as a whole. Bulbasaur is 100% the hardest to START the game with, but quickly gets really good later on.

Something that can be done on a lot of the classic cartridge based systems, because of how "close to the board" the game is running. Modern games have multiple layers of systems that filter the players input. The Matrix game for original xbox had a console that allowed ace on the console itself.

Yep. Imagine you're in a room with hundreds of people behind you and you know there are hundreds of thousands of people on the other side of the camera. Now, as cool and calm as you can while still sounding enthusiastic, say "I have with me here..." but instead of normal names start saying complicated screen names. It's, uh, pretty hard being up there. I remember what it was like the first time I got on stage and fumbled what I was trying to say and how I felt after. Heck, I still make mistakes on stage today and I've been leading the TASBot efforts for over 6 years now. I definitely noticed when TiKevin83 stumbled on that but I was proud of him for soldiering on without getting even more flustered. This was good experience for him and I need someone like him in case I can't make it to an event. He did a fine job for his debut and I'm looking forward to the bright path in front of him. I know he can succeed because he has one key skill: he can take whatever people say, process it, and persevere past it to do better next time. I value that kind of tenacity.
