Great getting started video. It's worth mentioning that while 99.9% of the time hot swapping mics with phantom power on is okay there is a chance that that you can fry mics (esp old and/or ribbon mics) if you leave it on.

Very helpful video. Thank you for putting this together. BTW, what video recorder did you use to film this tutorial? The quality and focus are excellent!

I notice when you hit 'format' we don't see the process finish. If I did that (Full Format) with any of my Tascams, it will spin for the rest of my life. I learned to use "Quick Format" ONLY. Full Format never finishes.

How about if you got unit used and you can't tell if it is on Standard or HS mode? I can't find a way to get to it. Also how do you play files back with the speaker, read manual and can't figure it out. Just to make sure something is there that is.

Do you happen to have measurements for the AC adapter barrel plug?

This is an awesome sounding recorder. Could or can it do 192 KHZ at 24 Bits? Or is that a 100 MK III thing? Cause I've seen that the newer MK III can do 192. Which I find epic and love.

Hi, I have this Tascam, but I can't use it. When I power the unit on I get a Device Error [2]. Can you help me? I have to find a solution :(

Hi. I've set mine to do basic recordings for a media project I'm working on but when I listen to the playback it sounds like slow motion. Any advice?
@richardsteeples65987 жыл бұрын
if you plug it in DSLR will you have to press record on video and same press record on Tascam DR-100 and how do you sink it in will it give you to audio tracks one from DSLR and one from Tascam DR-100
@weeardguy3 жыл бұрын
I know it's late, but maybe someone else can benefit from this: Simple. Clap your hands in view of the camera and close to the mic, or hold the mic in your hand while in view and carefully hit it with your hand on top of the grid. Syncing is a piece of cake that way later in edit.

Hiya Doug, thanks for the video. I know it's old tech, but I just got the Dr-100mkII and although I followed all your instructions no matter how I record, the files I transfer to my computer have low volume. What am I doing wrong?
@douglasaboyd4 жыл бұрын
Hey, I still love the MKII, it sounds really obvious but did you change the gain settings on the rear panel? There is a Low, Medium, High gain setting. I would choose high if you are having problems. Are you getting strong levels on the meter, but levels are low on the computer? What mic are you using? Some mics have really low output levels and don't work as well with certain recorders.
@danielnourry14144 жыл бұрын
@@douglasaboyd Thanks for the reply, I started playing around with the gain settings, bought a new spongey cover for the mic, and it seems to be working much better. A wonderful learning curve, I'm having loads of fun.

How long does it take for the SD card to format, it just keeps spinning?
@glennchristian96539 жыл бұрын
+Lynn Thorn mine is doing the same thing. I just got it yesterday and I'm trying to set it up. It's been spinning now for 15 minutes.
@notvalidcharacters5 жыл бұрын
@@glennchristian9653 I put this in a separate comment but on my other Tascam models I use "Quick Format' ONLY. Full format will tie you up forever. I mean literally forever, I've never seen it end, ever.

@@notvalidcharacters so haw do i make it stop? 😐
@notvalidcharacters2 жыл бұрын
@@yuliiayeromina795 You don't. That's the problem. If it's still spinning as you read this, will it to your future grandchildren, it's not stopping. If you can cancel with a button, do that. I can't remember if that works. If not you could pull the power/take out the batteries.

there is no 96khz in this recorder??
@FlorianCalmer9 жыл бұрын
+Anand G Yes there is. It's HS mode. You have to turn on the device by pressing "ENTER/MARK" and the power button at the same time. Then a menu appears where you can choose to enable HS MODE (96khz)

Thanks but please, please turn the drum machine and loop off; throw it away. I'm a musician and you're hurting me; no music whilst you are talking would be best. You do not have to put muzak on anything.
