Have you tried pushing down more than one monitor button simultaneously? I’m sure it pushes the monitor out opamp into distortion a bit but you can at least hear more outputs this way.

Would I need a pre amp to record using condenser mics. And if so how would I use it in this setup? Also would you recommend using a patch at for such setup

You can either use an external preamp and connect the line output of that preamp to a line input on the M-106, or you can simply use an external phantom power supply for the condenser mic and then connect the output of that to a mic input on the M-106. I’m not sure how or why a patchbay would be of benefit under those circumstances, and in the case of the external phantom supply I wouldn’t recommend using a patchbay for mic inputs, particularly where phantom power is at play.

Hello, which wires you got on the TASCAM M106? JACK (TR)MONO / Jack (TRS) Stereo?
@SweetbeatsTechStop3 жыл бұрын
Greetings. The Tascam M-106 has unbalanced TS phono jacks, unbalanced TRS phono jacks (for inserts), and unbalanced RCA type jacks.

Hello! Have you tried to record type 4 tape on it?
@coryoace91135 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about on the 234? Using Metal tape? You could do that but all Tascam multitrack cassette machines are designed for Type II Chromium tape...the bias and EQ curve. The machine will perform best with the proper tape, unless you have the ability and equipment to make adjustments to the machine for a different tape type.

Yes, I'm talking about 234. I have such a tape recorder, so I'm wondering if someone was recording on type 4 audio tape and did you get good recordings? The other day I will try myself. I thought to ask for advice) Thank you.

@@technopunks Well, you could always try it and see what you think. hey, would this be possible with a tascam 242 (or cassette tape recorder equivalent?)
@SweetbeatsTechStop4 жыл бұрын
I’m not familiar with a Tascam 242. Do you mean 244 or 424? And what specifically are you wanting to accomplish?
@BenMarkParry4 жыл бұрын
@@SweetbeatsTechStop Ahhh I do mean the 424 actually. I was wanting to use the 106 as a sort of slave preamp/EQ/mixer whilst using the 424 to record to?
@SweetbeatsTechStop4 жыл бұрын
@@BenMarkParry 424 (mkI), 424mkII or 424mkIII?

@@BenMarkParry Okay. So, absolutely, yes, you can use something like an M-106 as a front end to the 424mkII or as a submixer, but you need to ask yourself "why", because incorporating all that additional circuitry into the signal path will add noise and distortion...will you be able to actually hear that noise and distortion? Not sure, but if I had to say yes or no, I'd say yes. If you need the extra inputs, or if there is functionality on the M-106 you *need* in order to accomplish your project, then just consider if those needs or benefits outweigh the potential detriment of the added noise, distortion, etc. If you are wanting to just use the M-106 as, like, a replacement of the 424mkII mixer, you would connect the 4 PGM group outputs to the 1/4" LINE inputs 1-4 on the 424mkII, set the TRIM controls fully counter-clockwise (hard L), and set all the EQ controls to center. That will offer a minimum of noise/distortion compounding. If you don't need all 4 outputs from the M-106 (like if you are only recording 1-2 channels from the M-106 at a time, or are making a 2-channel stereo submix), you can bypass a lot of (in this case) superfluous circuitry by connecting the outboard mixer's outputs (direct out or PGM out) to the 424mkII's channel 5-6 or 7-8 inputs and assign those to the L-R buss and record that way, or the *cleanest* input for this scenario is the BUS IN jacks. Those go straight to the L-R buss. Hope that helps.
