Making my bed every morning is symbolic for me. As a teenager (when my depression had me in shambles), some days I couldn’t even get out of bed to go to school. Now when I make my bed I definitely feel a real (not manufactured) sense of accomplishment, because it means I was able to get up-period! I don’t take that for granted.

Yes they do, and when you say the phrase "men ain't shit" people always say you are bitter. That's not true, men are never expected to take responsibility for the shit they do, they hurt and abuse women and people say,"you chose him" as if we are supposed to be a fortune teller. I am 37 now and I was sexually assaulted, abused, harassed and used for 31 years of that. I also am the only girl of 5 weeks siblings and a great father who my mom is still married to. I am also in a relationship with a good man who I have been with for 5yrs. So in my experience I concluded that 99%, of men ain't shit. The reason I say that is because I personally know men that are good however if you look at the statistics it's true. Us pointing out the obvious isn't being bitter, bitter is saying I hate all men. That's not what I said. If this statement is not true then why does every woman from the beginning of time of every race and culture and demographic and no matter the economic status or age, don't matter how she looks her size or her body count. Every woman has a bad experience with a man at some point in her life. That says a lot and proves our point. Men ain't shit is a common phrase because women commonly have a reason to say it. It's not the same as just a broken heart, there are many ways to be a bad person, cheating is not the only measurement. If you ask every woman in your life 99% will have a story/complaint somewhere on this list: Cheated on Lied to Called out your name Neglected Molested Raped Beaten Unwanted touching Stalked Revenge porn Has sex with them told everyone her personal business Grabbed/grouped Emotionally abused Mentally abused Got pregnant and disappeared And I am sure there are some situations that I have forgotten. So I will not say that all men ain't shit but I have experienced a lot of heart breaks and embarrassment because of men, and I am a good person and I refuse to let people tell me I am bitter and I am the problem when every other woman is and has been dealing with the same problems I have. I am not the problem for giving people chances. How about asking men to make better choices. It's just this simple how about every man treat every woman regardless of how they judge her, treat her the way you would want someone to treat your mother, sister and brother. That's what I tell my son. Every no good man doesn't look no good and every good man doesn't look like a model, you don't know until you know. And yes there are some bad women out there too, however not nearly as many as men which is why it's easier for a man to find a good woman than a woman to find a good man. Some men will continue to cheat on a woman play all these mind games and when she snaps and slashes his tires now she is crazy. When you know what you did to drive her there. Men know women are emotional. Some women are emotional and stressed out and you put those two together and then make her angry and that's what you get. You lie and say you love her while you have her most vulnerable and then say the next day, "I never said we were a couple" knowing full well she was going to assume it anyways because of what you said. Those are manipulative mind games. Men just need to be better men. We shouldn't be in n charge of us, the kids and grown men. Just do better.

I'm with you Claudia. I make my bed everyday. I make it before I go to work every single day. And my kids do the same. I was raised that way. My house has everything in it's place at all times. As a person with severe depression, I had a tip given to me at a very young age that helped me most days. And it was as follows: "Make your bed every day and that way you would've accomplished at least one thing for the day." So on days where I felt as though just living was too hard, I made my bed and it helped me at least ease that feeling. And I have made my bed every day since then. Despite me being highly accomplished currently in life, I still make my bed everyday to start the day off with that feeling.

I just said what Claudia is saying about past traumas. People always tell us to pray and you're tough and strong. And sometimes hearing those words can hurt. Because I don't want to be strong, and yes it happened over 30 something years ago but it happened and some people never get over it. I'm still working through shit. I was never protected and I am still mad at that shit man. So don't tell me to be strong or call me bitter. I've been hurt so many times over and it's hard to truly get over it.. getting over it may never happen.

I routinely make my bed daily. It’s not only a great start to my day but also a feeling of peace and tranquility and a reward after a successful day. My room is always organized and smelling great! My bathroom sink is always white and clean. Toilet always cleaned and the space always well ventilated. Walking into my room creates an experience in itself that takes you away. My kids walk around in my room like it’s a museum.
