The task was "Pop the balloons, fastest time wins", not "pop all of the balloons". That's why Als time counts even though 2 got away. The Morse code was a clue, but if you read the task as it is written you can figure it out without knowing the code at all. The balloons, which ones? Any, so long as it's plural and the time between the first one and the last one popped is the time, so pop 2 and it's the time between the first and second. Pop 3 and it's the time between the first and third etc.

That’s the joke. I enjoy the tasks where you have to perceive what Alex ‘might’ do. Much more fun to watch than to ‘smash a cake in the fastest time!’. The best ones are where the clue goes totally overlooked (unless you think), “What would Alex do here?” which I think Bob did with the case of peas... The task where one contestant brought the doorbell indoors was genius. I enjoy the tasks most where it’s easy but so easy to do it the hard way... Once everyone starts looking for clues it’ll become boring. So, maybe need the odd task which instead of lights up the room say, lights up a message like, “Not this time!”. “Please do not press the button again!”

The Bajo de la mesa and "Just Pop Two and Win" ones have been my favourites, even though everyone is talking about the Acaster one (which was brilliant), i think there it was just very very veeery bad teamplay while on the other ones all contestents were just oblivious of theire surroundings. xD

The balloon task is the task I’ve thought was the cleverest so far in all the series, as so in-your-face. Really enjoyed the ‘art’ aspect. Is fun to watch those tasks where you have the solution obvious (when shown) but has been approached in the hardest way possible due to being missed! Nice one Bob! :)
@jason_a_smith_gb3 жыл бұрын
There was a Derren Brown episode once where there was a message above the doors that stated you can just walk in and take the money. Little Alex Horne is becoming his competition! The case of peas was good too. Only issue is, contestants may become wise to Alex’s way of thinking...
@boianko3 жыл бұрын
I don't really get that one, are the balloons just adding an extra win condition, or is it some subtext I'm unable to grasp?

@spongebuddy0093 жыл бұрын
@@marc.lepage yea like everyone associates "on" with "on top of" but it doesn't necessarily only mean that. I love how they did that lol
@marc.lepage3 жыл бұрын
@@spongebuddy009 Mostly because it involved the table. If you said to check for a wart on your foot, you'd look on the bottom not the top, I wager. But we still say "on" in that case, not "under" or other alternatives.

I was thinking that at first then I thought, you don't have lights under the ceiling, on bottom, on top, on side :)

"From" the table, aside from being fairly clunky in terms of word choice, would have given the game away pretty quickly since "use the items from the table" isn't a natural way of phrasing that sentence. "On" is a valid word choice since the items were still technically on the table, just not on top of it - like putting a magnet on a fridge doesn't necessarily mean putting it on top of the fridge. It's like Richard Osman interpreting one of the tasks that said "put the balls on the mat on top of the hill" to mean "put the balls on the mat that is currently on top of the hill" and realised he could simply bring the mat down the hill, while everyone else took it for granted that the wording meant "take the balls up the hill and put them on the mat". The wording definitely invites one clear interpretation but it's ambiguous enough to allow for others.
