Some of the best oysters from Tasmania come from St Helens. Lease 65 is definitely top 3, Melshell near Wineglass Bay and Get Shucked are the other two.

Haha. A little insight into the naming of Wineglass Bay. Back in the day it was more the stained water as they brought whales ashore to cut them up (whale oil was the thing for lamps all over the world) and the blood flowed into the bay making it look like a 'wineglass'. Gross I know but history is not all fancy and free. Love your blog style Janice plus of course the endless seeking out of food.

Tasmania looks great, I will definitely put it on my list for a future trip to Australia. Hey, I am going to Hong Kong in a couple of weeks. Only for a few days but I a so excited. I am revising your Honk Kong series and taking notes!
@JaniceFung

oh how exciting! I am actually thinking of creating a guide for Hong Kong (like a written PDF guide) - from your perspective, what do you think would be useful to include in there / any particular questions you have about travelling there?
@nicolasrobitaille3259
@nicolasrobitaille3259 4 ай бұрын
That would be really cool! So far, the questions that I have are regarding everyday things like what is the preferred payment method to go around and at the restaurants? Can I use western credit cards easily? Cash? or should I get a local payment tool. I saw that some were suggesting to get an Octopus card. With my poor sense of orientation, I am sure I will get lost (as usual). Is there places I should avoid or be more careful? Are there any common scams that the tourists should pay attention to? I noticed that in some restaurants, they are washing the cups with the tea before serving it. I don't know this practice. Is there a specific way to do it? The vloggers that I saw eating in HK are often eating dumplings, won-tons or other food containing prawns. Is there other meat or veggie options? Despite me loving prawns, I unfortunately became allergic so I need to avoid them but I want to eat dumplings! Is it reasonably easy to communicate in English when you go out of the touristy spots? Especially in restaurants. I usually use Google translate to compensate the 4-5 words that I know but it's not always working well. BTW, is Google working at all in HK? That's so far my concerns. If I think about other questions I will get back to you! Thank you so much! @@JaniceFung

If you have more time to spend, go to Sheffield and have a look at the murals. If you go in winter, then pumpkin soup / hot chocolate in front of an open fire - if you want that European winter vibe.

Have you been to Queenstown/ Strahan on the west coast or Stanley in the far north-west? Stanley is beautiful and quaint. There is beautiful coastline along the route there coming from Burnie. You need to give yourself time if you go to these places because the drive can be windy and slow and in winter on the west coast can be sleet or even snow. If you go to Strahan, you need to do the Gordon River cruise and see Sarah Island where the convicts were sent. Another overlooked place is the far south. I think you've been to the Huon, but there's also Dover and the beautiful Cockle Creek way down south. If you go to Cockle Creek, stop at the Hastings Cave thermal springs and caves. Past Dover, eating options are very few, so that's the place to stock up at the supermarket. The Hastings Cave parks office has a small cafe where you can grab a coffee and something light to eat. Maria Island on the east coast is a bit tricky to get to but very worth it - convict ruins, beautiful landscape and beaches, introduced Tasmanian devil population and loads of wombats. Again this is somewhere where you would want to bring your own food. Also sounds like you need to go back to Bruny!

@@JaniceFung haha I don't live in Australia 🦘, hope to visit someday though! I did Google to make sure you could find some however, looks like there are a few options! I highly recommend making sure tho place u go has curtido, it's fermented seasoned cabbage slaw that is usually served with pupusa along with salsa, highly likely they all would have that though:) also, any variety will be delicious, but the meat bean and cheese ones are incredible. Good luck ❣️

Thank you Janice for coming back to visit with us... please don't forget your loyal KZbin subbies.... we love you... miss you when you are away for so long. Love this vlog. Only a brother could get away with (or maybe he didn't... I would have made sure he didn't were he were my brother) with calling you stupid. Shame on him. And shame on the rest of the family members that laughed so robustly at what he said. I'm sorry Janice... that's just disrespectful and downright rude. Sibling or no... at least while you are filming... he could have refrained? Just when we thought he was growing up... geesh.

Very interesting video, beautiful place. Just off topic, you said it's frightening how fast time passes. Wait until you get older, it goes even faster 😞. Important thing is to make time count. I must be about twice as old as you. But I just can't get my head around this aging thing. I don't feel older, yet I am 😞.

It's not the parking cost. It's the entry fee to the National Park for a car load of people. As a Tasmanian, I buy the two year National Parks pass and it covers both my vehicles. Much better value. I don't pay nearly this much.
