I had some great nights in The Marquee watching Taste. Back then he had a Vox AC30 Valve Amp that stood on a chair centre stage. He just plugged straight in to that and away we went!

Camera guys back then thought it was psychedelic to throw in all that editing, when it actually detracted from the performance. British Blues singer Jo Ann Kelly does a great cover of this song also.

Just happened upon this now, great playing by Rory and the lads and the sound quality is very good too. If it hadn’t been for Eric Clapton Taste would have played Woodstock the same year, pretty sure they would have gone down a storm.

What's the story about Clapton keeping Taste from Woodstock? Would love to read it.

It was in 69 when Taste were one of the supporting acts for Blind Faith’s American tour. I’ve just looked it up, seems I had remembered it slightly wrong; in fact Clapton had wanted to do it but when put to a vote other band members voted against it. There’s an article on the Irish Times website where Donal talked about it: “We were on tour with Blind Faith at the time in 1969 and I remember the agent coming on board the bus in New York and asking if the package, which was Blind Faith, Delaney and Bonnie and Friends and Taste, would be interested in going up to Woodstock. “Clapton was at the top of the bus and he turned around and asked for a show of hands and it got voted down and voted down by quite a bit - it was predominantly the guys in Delaney and Bonnie, which would expand and contract between an eight piece and a 12 piece, who voted it down. The guys in Taste, Rory included, kept their hands down - they felt they weren’t important enough to be given a shout. Eric wanted to do it and I remember whispering to him that, with all due respect to democracy, it was his shout basically but it went to a vote and Woodstock went on without us.”

@@rgrtnyjjc I was at the Bridgeport show on July 13, 1969, but while I remember their performance being a fan favorite, I vaguely remember Delaney and Bonnie, and I don't recall if Taste or Free was the opening act. If it was Taste, then shame on me for not realizing the talent I was witnessing. Was Taste at the Bridgeport show?

The older guys I know skipped Woodstock and went to the big festival in MIlwaukee instead cuz Taste was in the lineup there and were skipping Woodstock.
