The Cobra Coupe from Australia also come out with a 5.8 ltr (351) Just an insite so you folk know over in the States, These Limited Edition Factory Ford Cobras off the production floor on the assembly line were all painted Blue, then the White colour was painted over the top to finish the body off.

Some fun facts from Wikipedia. The first 200 came with a 351 Cleveland and, number 351 was also a 351 Cleveland. These cars were created when they had 400 left over XC Hardtop shells at the end of the production, Instead of scrapping them this car was produced. The cars were painted Bold Blue with an overlay of Sno White, with Olympic Blue accent stripes separating the two colors.

The Cleveland engines in Australian Fords from late 72 were all Australian built Cleveland’s at Fords Geelong, Victoria factory and were in 302 and 351 ci, the 302 version was unique to Australia and came in 2 and 4 barrel versions and powered Aussie Fords from F-series pick ups, Falcons, Fairmonts, Fairlanes, LTD’s etc, From 1972 into the 1980’s, as an aside nearly all of the De-Tomadi Panteras were powered by Australian built 351 Cleveland’s, Australia also used Windsor V8’s from the early 60’s in 221,260,289,302,351’s in a range of Australian Fords, those Australian Falcon coupes als came in a myriad of models and options, GT’s, Falcons, Fairmonts etc and limited edition models like John Goss specials, super birds to Luxury Landon models based on the Falcon coupes but with slightly different styling that was the equivalent to a coupe version of the Aussie LTD’s, which are probably rarer these days than the 2 door Falcons

Thanks for the in depth look at the Austrian Ford V8, James!! Were parts interchangeable with the American 302 and 351????
@jamesgovett32252 ай бұрын
@@carshowreporter some parts were the 302 was a de-stroked version of the 351, I believe our Australian Heads were sought after in the US as I have an old American Hot Rod magazine advising a reader to source Australian made Cleveland heads first his project, apparently our Heads etc were developed further after US Ford gave us the Cleveland whereas the US stayed with the Windsors in small blocks, Australia started with Windsors in our Falcons from the 289’s, 302’s & 351’s and changed to our Cleveland’s from around 1973 with the fully Australian XA Falcons, ZF Fairlanes and LTD’s, Ford F-series and Broncos, the 302 Cleveland was the first to be released followed a few months down the track with the 351’s, it’s interesting that we did the full circle and re-introduced the Windsors in injected form with the EB Falcons and other models and later 351 strokers in FPV models until changing to another Aussie developed Quad cam 5.4 V8’s to the Miami/coyote engines in Falcons near the end of production

@@carshowreporter Southwell Ford, Warrnabool in south west Victoria. All 3 were 302's, bone stock from memory. No air conditioning or power steering. Traded in for run of the mill Falcon's which seems a shame now and the owner's would probably have to be kicking themselves. Then again nobody could really have foreseen the desirability at the time...

They were a victim of the relatively new exhaust emission laws in Australia that came into effect in 1976. They weren’t a complete slug but they were definitely less powerful than the pre-emission cars.

It is a 4.9 liter which is 301.6 cu. in. topped by a 4bbl ( barrel ) or 4v ( venturi ) carb. In 1966 Ford offered a Galaxie 500 7ltr ( 428 cu.in. ) . The world has used metric a long time. It has finally caught up to us!! Don't worry, Dean, it could have been worse. It might have been Whitworth!!!

Achieved NOTHING in racing were THRASHED at sandown in 78 79 and DECIMATED at Bathurst by the REAL ultimate AUSTRALIAN designed and built muscle car the A9X Torana. A 351 ford XC Cobra couldn’t even crack 200 Kph as a road car. All stripes and no substance.
@carshowreporter4 ай бұрын
Oh, Torana, what do you REALLY think???!!! 😉😅 The auction prices of the A9X Torana reflects the status it had earned on the track. By the by, the Torana used a lot of off the shelf bits, as did Shelby, Yenko and many others. Nothing wrong with that when you get the right combination!
