Nice review, thanks! I really cant help feel that Casio G-Shock is now using the Apple approach of rehashing previous models with minor iterations and slapping an extra $200 on the price so you can have bragging rights to the latest model! It does look nice but I must be getting too old to collect all these new G-Shocks!

Thanks for the review. IMO the regular full metal square @ $ 335 is a no brainer: better looking and much cheaper (already have it).

It looks AMAZING w/ tht blue mirror pop of color. Its worth up to a $100 more imo. The square is 1 of the last watches left that is truly more than jewelry, so I love how tht blue hit allows it to pull of jewelry & function both off at once. We'll rmbr what the buttons do after awhile if we dont already know so the text is no prob imo. Now if we're talking the Amazon price of the original & a $250 difference than no. It's a $100 better max to me. To some it's prob less & some will actually prefer the blue chrome be absent also so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi thanks for the great review! Logically the cheaper option ticks all boxes for me and I’ve been on the metal GShock fence for a while, but I really love that blue/green! I’ve got the 5000u however end up wearing my 5610u way more despite the lack of metal case, not being made in Japan etc. I love my red line around the LCD! 😂 I’ll keep an eye out for a deal on one of the JDM websites for ol bluey. Cheers!

The text being more legible would ruin the look of that design and color of the internal bezel. I think it looks better without the text pronounced ... regardless. If you want the text, get the basic silver watch!

What's the difference between the 5000 and the 5600 series?

5000 series has a stainless steel metal body with screw in caseback. As opposed to plastic body of 5600 series.

@@kini5000 Yes, plus they also have a STN-LCD display (=Super TN), which means significantly higher contrast and higher legibility and angles of view, kind of a must for negative displays. And they’re made in Japan with even higher quality, I believe.
