When l was young, we used to make this add home; either using pure honey or golden syrup(light treacle to Americans), you heat it in a saucepan and when it begins bubbling you add bi-carb soda. Pour into a tray before it sets, the either cut or break it up.

Born and raised on Vegemite as a toddler. Glad you applied the Vegemite correctly; but the toast needs to be hot out of the toaster, so the butter melts. Another way is with cheese in a sandwich; if you're game, add either mashed or sliced banana for a sweet and sour taste.

The 'shatter refers to when you bit it, and it is way better than Crunchie; Violet Crumble just melts in your mouth, where as Crunchie tends to clot together. Violet Crumble was originally made by Hoadley's Chocolates, named after Mrs Hoadley as this was her favourite( yes, we have 'u' in this word; also colour, favour, etc.); Hoadley's also make one of my favourites, Polly Waffle; it's soft marshmallow inside a waffle tube coated in chocolate, and named after the worker's daughter than invented it. Menz Chocolates in Adelaide, South Australia bought the intellectual property rights for both from Nestle; just waiting for the release of it, Menz is famous for FruChocs(fruit balls made from apricot and coated in chocolate).

Fantastic video you got the Vegemite exactly right too many Americans put way too much on. The funny thing about liquorice in Australia is we have really good quality liquid but there's not many people that eat it. If you ever get a chance to try the Darrell Lea rocky road definitely take it. Back when I was a kid you either were a violet crumble fan or a crunchie fan both were chocolate honeycomb but Crunchie was a lot softer

On the violet crumble or on the Vegemite?
@rocketfishstudios-facebook47583 жыл бұрын
Big tip with the Vegemite, use it like you would beef bullion base in things like beef stew or even gravy for roast beef. Anything like that where you're looking to really bring some deep umami punch to the meal. It doesn't just bring the saltiness it really delivers a strong savoury note to whatever you put it into. Same rules, don't go crazy. A little bit, taste and adjust with more if you need it but I promise you, use it like that and you'll get an absolutely awesome flavour bomb! Don't just limit it to toast, mind you .... try a slice of cheese and Vege on toast ..... HELL YEAH!! BTW, that's exactly how you eat the Violet Crumble. It's the way it shatters that matters means the way it shatters in your mouth when you bite it. You got lucky throwing it on the table like that lol. If that landed on some edge, it would have exploded and you would have been eating little shards lol No Tim Tams? ...... I'm assuming you've tried those already?
@HoosierDaddyOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Great tips with the Vegemite! I’ll have to try those out! I would love to try a Tim Tam, but Australian food is hard to come by around here. I’m definitely planning to do a more extensive Australian snack video when I can. Shapes, Crunchie, and of course, a Tim Tam slam! Thanks for watching!
@rocketfishstudios-facebook47583 жыл бұрын
@@HoosierDaddyOfficial With the Vegemite, try it just with some really fresh garbage white bread, unsliced. Carve yourself a big thick slice, lay down the butter and hit it with the Vege and a slice of cheese and you probably won't ever eat it in toast ever again lol. If you've got a Walmart or Target close by, both do stock a very limited flavour range in many parts of the USA now. If you do end up doing the slam, don't let any idiot talk you into doing cold milk, completely defeats the purpose. Keep them in the fridge, get them nice and cold and then warm coffee full to the brim of the cup. The colder the Tim Tam is, the more Coffee you'll be able to enjoy before slamming it. Life-changing experience man, TRUST ME :)

Violet Crumble is from South Australia and it is a bit like freeze dried ice cream. The chocolate stops the honeycomb from going sticky and gooey. You can even try making it at home. Look for a recipe that uses glucose syrup. You are only the second American I've seen who likes Vegemite. Good on ya.

You're pretty damn close. Violet Crumble was originally made by Nestle to compete against Crunchie here in Australia. There is a difference, the Honeycomb in the VC is lighter in texture. I'm sure you will know how Crunchie can get a little sticky in the middle. So I would say lighter texture, more crumbly (if that's even a word lol) and a little lighter in flavour and perhaps more of a burnt caramel flavour to what the Crunchy has. Extremely popular here in Oz, just as Crunchie is also. All comes down to preference as to who likes which but personally, I've always been a VC not and always will be. Just can't beat that awesome texture for my money :)

Loving the channel! I’m from Sydney Australia and obviously I love Vegemite, I have it on toast everyday. Vegemite is just a common spread everyone keeps in the pantry like Peanut butter and Nutella, I have a 2 year old boy, at 6 months old he tried it for the first time, did not like it, but after a few times finally caught on to the flavour, now at 2 and he will grab the jar from the pantry, unscrew the lid and eat it straight from the jar, so why do we love it? simply we grow up on it, it’s just part of our culture.
