I visited Thailand in 2023 from Bangladesh, and my first target was to try their food. I thought I could easily handle the spices since I am from a country where spicy food is very common. But sadly, when I got the first bite, oh man! I felt like my soul was trying to escape from my body! It was pretty bad, actually! My whole face became red, and I couldn’t even talk properly, although the flavours and taste of the food were amazing!! Anyway, I have to say that you handled the spices really well! Kudos to you!
@WhereisBrad7 ай бұрын
Haha I've heard a lot of people say this. What I think is that Thai chili is a very "different" spice from any other. My theory is that regardless of where you're from and how used to your usual "spice", when you first have Thai spice it'll be like having spice for the first time. If fact, my Thai wife is Thai and can really handle Thai spice. Yet, I brought her to America and she thought all the new Mexican spices were super intense. So I think my Theory works in both directions. Either way, I primarily eat and cook Asian cuisine when I'm home and I think I've been exposed to tons of spice through the years now so I think my tolerance is super high now. Glad you are okay and could still enjoy the food! Haha!
@zubaersalman4147 ай бұрын
@@WhereisBrad Your theory is 100% correct. It’s true that regardless of where you’re from and how spicy food you can handle, eating spicy food in foreign countries feels like starting from square one!

Ate there 3 times. Arrived just as the restaurant opened at each time, but still took the kitchen 40 minutes to push out a dish that should not take more than 3 minutes to complete. I cook this a home every time. The egg is probably the best I've ever tasted so far in Thailand. Crisp edges, garlicky taste. Overall, I'd rate a strong 7.

Awesome Brad. Discovered your channel from Chris. The Pad Kaprow looked awesome and while the price is more expensive for Thai standards, it’s pretty reasonable for someone from the States. I’m actually Thai and will be traveling to BKK in mid August for a 2 week vacation. Hopefully I can check it out. By the way, Ekamai is pronounced “Eh-Kuh-My”
@WhereisBrad7 ай бұрын
Thanks! Chris is the man! Haha ya I agree completely! More expensive yet reasonable for USA standards. Definitely check it out and share your opinion compared to other Kaprows! Thanks for the pronunciation correction! I'm saying it out loud to myself right now to try to commit this to memory lol. Please always correct me so I can become a better Thai man too!

@WhereisBrad7 ай бұрын
Haha do you still like it?? I feel like the difference from 0 to 1 chili is massive. But the difference from 1 to 2 is more subtle. And so on. But I always like very spicy! I only avoid for flights, or when I need to be far from a toilet lol.😂

Number 3 is really all that is needed. It's similar to what you would find at any given street cart. Any higher and it just burns and loses flavour of the protein. You can always add some extra chilli yourself. Also drink milk because water just makes it worse.
@WhereisBrad6 ай бұрын
Haha I agree. After 3,4,5 it doesn’t get that much more flavorful… but I had to try at least one time!! Either way, I’m glad I could handle and still enjoyed it!

E ka me? Where are you Mexico ?Japan? Learn how to pronounce the name correctly man. Or at least try to pronounce as close as possible. You put that much effort to eat the spicy food at least you can do is say the name right.

Sorry about that. Sometimes I can’t figure out how to say things as I jump around different countries, languages, cultures etc. I did try to pronounce it as close as I could, but it’s hard to know when I’m doing it right or wrong. Sometimes there’s multiple ways to say it or multiple spellings too lol. But to help, I mention that I’m in Bangkok Thailand, at 0:27. I also put the country and city on screen at the beginning. It’s also in the title of the video, and the description. Hope that helps
