It was made by Eaglemoss who unfortunately went out of business. It's made of a mix of die cast metal and plastic parts. I try to put different ships in each of my videos to justify the investment made into my ship collection lol Fanhome have a new ship subscription collection starting soon, which is a continuation of Eaglemoss's Star Trek ships and I'm very excited about it!

OLED is stunning for games and movies. I use a 42" 4K120 TV as my monitor and I love it. But if you need higher FPS or better connectivity options or a smaller screen, you should get an OLED monitor.

What i don't love about AMD APUs is that you don't get the best CPUs the company has to offer. On Intel you can specify an iGPU without compromising on CPU performance. On AMD you get a completely different die with the cache cut in half compared to standard, and no X3D option, while extended cache and X3D in particular are how the best AMD CPUs gain their impressive performance. Still best choice for a power constrained laptop, you're getting a more robust more versatile machine without the cost, and same for ultra small form factor nettop or NUC style PC like this, but as far as PCs in general or if you could dedicate a little more space to a small form factor PC with a dGPU, well it's the kind of compromise you'd rather avoid. Of course the problem with Intel's approach is that the iGPU is too cramped.
@zshadowsАй бұрын
I've not really paid attention to the iGPUs in Intel's most recent chips, but they had previously always been the bare minimum for display output and video acceleration. They'd barely run 2D indie games... has that changed?

Waiting for the new AMD Strix next year. Phat graphics on those chips.

1:30 Just my opinion, but if they aren’t designed to attach to the back of a monitor via the vesa mounting holes, then I don’t consider them a mini PC. This size is very close to a mini-ITX small case eg the Gemcase C9

If i wasnt the kind of person to build my own small form factor machines for the exact use case i want i'd be all over the MS-01 and MS-A1 love the design and features. If they were to update it to the rumored 4 channel Strix Halo with 40 compute units i just might pick that one up for home, and work. At work we had to go down to a single CAD lab because those big workstations arent exactly ADA compliant, and the small form factor cards arent exactly powerful enough(looking at you XX50 class GTX 4060TI/RTX 2000 ADA) I have a similar small form factor OLED display as my secondary display, love it, cannot wait for 22 inch 1080p 120-240hz OLED so i can put them everywhere, even for my kitchen TV I wish they had found a way to shove in full sized desktop DIMMs instead of SODIMM, the 8700G sees a great performance bump with DDR5 8000 in 1:1, though the FCLK and UCLK cant quite hit those speeds. Actually genuinely upset that the UCLK is worse on my 8700G than my 5700G With both of my 5700G examples i could do 5000C17-17-17-28 with the MCLK/FCLK and UCLK all at 2500 (1:1:1:1) which means if there was DDR4 that could hit the speeds, it could do DDR4 10,000 C34 in 'gear2' Sure my 8700G's MCLK will go to 4400(DDR5 8800 in 1:1) but the FCLK seems to top out at 3200(6400 in 1:1) which is admitedly better than the 2500 on the 5700G HOWEVER while the 5700G does 2500 on everything, the 8700G's UCLK tops out at an absolutely pitiful 2200 despite it being on a new node. Normally, i'd say this isnt a problem, but because the FCLK cant hit 4000, and only my really small memory kit can hit over 8000, this means that my UCLK is holding back the GPU because my choices for DDR5 8000 comes down to running the DDR5 at 4400 with everything in 1:1 OR running at 8000 with MCLK at 4000, but the FCLK and UCLK at 2000 similar memory bandwidth and worse latency than my 5700G I'm hoping this is because this is technically AMD's first generation of DDR5 controller, where the previous "DDR5" controller in the 6800H/7735HS didnt actually support DDR5 DIMM/SODIMM, only LPDDR5 and are not compatible with

You always have great choices. May I ask, then why not a notebook with similar knowledge? Because it's better for an office. Let's say I'm going the other way. Since there is no case that suits me, I designed one and printed it out. It's barely four times the size of this one. Quiet, 32 Thread and I can drive it crazy even with the best video card. Compared to its size, it hardly takes up space and is easy to transport. But like I said, I haven't even found anything similar anywhere.

I read in multiple places, that the minis forum bios has an unusual long boot time. Did you have any issues like that? Not that I reboot my machines often, but for a media player pc that wouldn't be great.

I'd say the boot time was pretty standard. Maybe it's slower if you use different memory than the set included with the pre-built option, or something like that.

When I checked the socket the socket pins had visible damage... so return to sender and now waiting for a replacement... I did get a quick reply, but I had to pay for the return postage and that sucks donkey doodles...
@TastyPCАй бұрын
That does suck, but it's nice to hear that they've accepted the return. With socket pins the customer is often automatically assumed to have damaged them, which would usually void the warranty.
