for a few seconds there i was thinking to myself "nice to see an old game that they are going to just speed through just by optimizing how they move" then they started doing that first glitch to get the Yoshi wings and i realized how stupid of a thought that was.

Retro Game Mechanics Explained has a fantastic video on some of the glitches that end the levels early. In particular that I remember, he explains the glitch where Yoshi duplicates the goal tape to finish the level early and the glitch where blocks are duplicated over dragon coins to get unintended keys and yoshi wings ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4Sql4yhjdR6oMk ). A lot of other interesting info about the minutia of the game's mechanics as well.

How this TAS Run starts: Luigi: So Mario, how did you come back after defeating Dharkon? Mario: To answer that, we have to talk about paralell universes! Yoshi: Marios! King Kooper has kidnapped the Peach and stole my eggs!
