[TAS] Genesis Contra: Hard Corps "best ending" by Soig in

Contra: Hard Corps is the only game of the Contra series released on the Genesis / Mega Drive console. In this game, you get to choose between four characters, each with different abilities and weapons. The Japanese version was chosen because, for some reason, it gives the players a health bar, allowing them to take some damage without dying.
You can also get several different endings, based on which choices you make at several points. In this movie, the author takes the "best ending", which is the only ending that rewards the player with a "GOOD JOB!" screen at the end. There is also a run which obtains a worse ending (tasvideos.org/3844M.html) but still shows off a number of the game's stages. There is also a run which gets the secret ending (tasvideos.org/1097M.html).
In this movie, Soig improves his previous effort (tasvideos.org/1755M.html) by 12.76 (765 Frames @59.922751013551 FPS) seconds.

I played hours and hours this game. How does he kill the bosses with a few shots? I remember it took forever

That is a good question. But have you noticed that in most cases he intentionally allow boss hit the hero at the very beginning? I know that, for example, in Castlevania there was a bug: when you hero is blinking as it was hit on the ladder, at that time it deals tripled increased damage. I guess there is something similar in Contra: you do increased damage when you blinking plus minus some other conditions. And this TAS uses it a lot.

@@valergrad What he does is abuse Fang's charge shot, there's a glitch where if you fire your B weapon and immediately switch to D it comes out fully charged, normally you'd need to shoot B, immediately pause, switch to D and unpause for it to work in normal play but a TAS can execute the switch enough in "real time"

@@sneedchuck5477 normal people can do this without pausing, is just B - A - A - A - B. You have to have a pretty good pulse tho, i can only do it 2 or 3 times before blowing my bomb for error
