In The Revenge of Shinobi, the prequel to Shinobi III, you play as a ninja (what else?) who is capable of destroying an entire army of other ninjas, soldiers, and Hollywood characters. The fast attack animation of the ninja (one of which throws fireballs everywhere) makes up for his lack of speed.
In this run, CoolHandMike (tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/C...) beats his original attempt by 00:01.22 seconds thanks to better optimization.

All the nuns in round 5 are these Valkyrie-like enemies that can't be killed until they reveal themselves. Joe is like "Maybe that's an innocent nun!" after killing ten of them.

I did it with this, final fight, earthworm jim, batman returns, etc. It was said that it could mess up the game because it wasn't formatted for anything else other than the game system, but I never had one mess up on me. 🤷‍♂️

Epic game, took me hours to beat when I was a kid, I was amazed we fought Spiderman, Morbius, Daredevil, mother brain, terminator, the hulk, Godzilla, Shredder, and Jiraiya from Naruto lol I wish they remastered this game with newer graphics for these new consoles, it was and still epic

Later releases included a Marvel copyright notice before the title screen. The original Japanese release (The Super Shinobi) was copyright-infringement-palooza, where Spidey was backed up by a flying Batman and Godzilla was much more recognizable with his back scales. As for the Hulk-Terminator, that could be any shades-wearing muscle guy who turns progressively more green as you damage him and then explodes into a robotic endoskeleton and is not infringing at all.

I dressed up as a white ninja for Halloween because of this game. Also, had no idea that you could stop the crushing obstacles at the final boss. I thought you had to get the power up and use the electrical shield to beat his ass...

So the game reads your inputs. So I was holding LR to keep that "falling state" but also alternating Down and no input. So the game believes I am rapidly ducking and standing up. This causes the ninja to want to crouch when it reads the down input and stand when it does not read the down input. Thought that looked pretty funny so I put that in a couple places in the tas.

For this game the developers never tested what happens if you press normally unavailable button combinations on a controller. So things like U + D, and L + R, UDLR, and various combinations have strange effects.

None of the bosses get one shotted. You are probably referring to the Disco Ninja which is probably the fastest. That one if you do the kunai wheel and spam it you can get almost every hit in at once..except for the final one which requires another kunai wheel shortly after.
