I grew up with her voice! My parents always played Andrae Crouch. Tata Vega taught me how to sing with this song. I used to follow all her runs and hop around. Yes a truly annointed voice! Thank you Tata!

What an amazing woman and voice. It makes me sad when I read the comments on here and Twitter full of negativity and judgment. I miss the days when a person had to write a letter to voice a negative point of view so it could be balled up and tossed in the garbage. People learn to love and stop this hateful back n forth nonsense. Please???

I love Tata vega the voice in the church scene for color purple OMG. (Shug Avery's singing voice that is) She sounds like Shirley Murdock on the tone and runs/ i love her low and high range just her range period is flawless. her transitions of vocal register are so perfect it sounds like a different person sings that part everytime she does it u think it's another person if you couldn't see. LOL Love you TaTa hope to meet u one day> MauricePorter-ATL/CALI onemosoul.

One thing about Tata is that she's the same on t.v. as well as in person - such an endearing individual. So sweet. So kind. So passionate. Thank God for Tata! Saw her in a Wal-mart up in San Fernando Valley some years ago. She was soooo sweet. Invited me to go to Pastor Crouch's church.

Tata Vega has a beautiful voice. But God is trying to tell ya something is a testament to the genius of Quincy Jones. She tends to sing in a childlike animated voice during this period. God is trying to tell you something on the other hand is pure soul and heart.

She sounded great "over all" but at 4:38, she went for a Mariah Carey note and quickly knew she couldn't sustain it so she turned the crack into what appears to be an intentional growl....but it was actually a failed high note. Tata has a very versatile voice but occasionally goes out of her range.

Táta had nodules and eventually had surgery that took away some of her range. Those nodules are hard to sing around and a singer cannot control their range as they usually can. Check her vocals on this song. Absolutely amazing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5zTl35nmKutoc0

Clearly copied from Mills voice, it's a bit over the top with all the up and down voice gymnastics. Good copy, anyway!😁

all fake!
@Circa3fone11 ай бұрын
Táta was out before Stephanie if you meant Stephanie Mills. Definitely not fake at all. She talks about how she use to over sing at times when she was nervous. Certain technique comes with age. Her biggest influences were Stevie Wonder, Mahalia Jackson and Mavis Staples. You can hear their influences heavily in all her music.

@discovery78114 жыл бұрын
im not one to give into political correctness..... she may identify with her 1/4 blackness but she is mostly white.....she cant deny that
@timy91977 жыл бұрын
Does Vega sound white to you? She mainly has Latin and African roots being Italian is only a portion of who she is. Besides unless if your a racist, what does it matter?
@Circa3fone11 ай бұрын
What a strange thing to say. She's actually not mostly "white". She talks about her roots all the time on her Instagram. Her father was black. Not even sure why this is important to people or what it has to do with this song.
