It is such a shame that he doesn't compete in BJJ any more. Rodolfo could beat everyone apart from Buchecha. He was more dominant than Buchecha in all his other matches. The only person to have been more dominant than him is Roger Gracie.

There is always a time limit at these sub only toruney's that I have been to. If there is no sub then there is not winner. Is it really going to be that big of a deal if there is no men's 140lb brown belt div winner. Do you really need to hand out a gold medals to 50+ people?

You missed the message I was trying to send. Jits guys are focused on winning on points. Rose Gracie hates this fact so she has created a submission only tournament to prevent the "point winning" mentality. If you dont understand what is wrong with grappling to win on point then you have not trained long enough and dont understand the point of why jits was made. Helio Gracie left the federation becasue of this point mentality.

Of course it's not easy to do that. My point is that the guy acted like he was the sh*t because he won on points. Jiu-jitsu is turning away from what it was designed for. It was designed for self defense and points are nothing in a real self defense situation. Points don't mean anything unless you were being smashed form the bottom the whole time.

You are making some assumptions here. The reason why most matches end with "no winner" is becasue of the point system that does not provide the motivation to win. If you have ever competed in this style of match before you would see that the majority of people there really go for the win and there is a winner most of the time. Rose Gracie has been around for a while and she has here crap together. Why don't you hit her up on twitter if you have anymore in depth questions.

I understand, but you cannot successfully run a tournament otherwise. I just had a tournament with 1600 competitors... imagine each match with infinite amount of time. Just not feasible

"points are nothing in a real self defense situation." Points represent control and domination. Just because you wouldn't get points by taking mount in a "real self defense situation", doesn't mean it isn't effective. If you can dominate a trained opponent, an untrained assailant stands no chance.
