I got a distinct father/daughter vibe from the parts after he encountered Raphtalia, and that's beautiful with the ending of the second season in mind... him still seeing her as someone he saved and raised from a child instead of a romantic interest. It makes me consider how calculated decisions at your lowest point can seem like a godsend to those even lower than yourself, something that revitalizes my cynical heart with a bit of hope for humanity if people can consider thinking about the long-term effects of their actions on others. There's still a place for cynicism with Bitch and people like her, but that's always going to be a part of living life... sorting the wheat from the chaff, as the bible would say... overall, it hits on all of the high notes of what makes Tate No Yuusha a timeless tale: humanity and its endless expressions.
