Peter Doig's retrospective at Tate Britain was called 'the most enthralling show in town'. He took TateShots behind the scenes as he finalised the hang just before it opened, and showed us his private collection of photographs that provide the starting point for his mesmerising paintings.

Peter Doig | TateShots 1013am 2.5.23 is he related to clive? easier said than done - supressing a reaction, any reaction to the tedium or glories of the imagery on show. did you think hockney? i didn't .i thought of nothing...

What a talented artist - and he comes over as a really good & authentic guy and a bit humble about all he's achieved. Thank you for this.

I really like this. It’s the first time I have heard of this guy but his pictures are visually striking. What a visual imagination.

Really creative! One of the few Tate shots that I have watched right to the end. Would love to see Peter's work in the flesh.

jaredrose, many "artist" (not sure why you used quotes) are introverted people, they're not always comfortable in front of the camera or talking about their work. So he used some filler words (not that many actually) I don't see what the big deal is. His art is good, that's all that should matter.

Peter Doig | TateShots 1016pm 2.5.23 i think the audience is more aghast at having to have an opinion about the work.... lest it doesn't chime with the aura of the art or the mob's desire to have you join the throng in celebration of the oeuvre.... the crazy rock band lightning bolt seem to use obscure artists' works to adorn their album covers. i would surmise that this guy's art would suit such album covers... personally ; it doesn't do anything for me... i am sure it means something...

@c1magr8 : I have seen your snide comments on quite a few videos. You sound bitter, fix your own issues instead of attacking everything around you. There are issues in the art world as in every arena of life. Grow up!

Jaredrose2, that comment is ridiculous. Look at Lucian Freud interviews, the man is a painting genius and there are quite a few uh and ums, i think the word your looking for is called reflective thinking. Try it, you may come up with something a bit more constructive.
