Some of the older Bugles used by American drum and bugle corps like the Ultratone II series from the 70s were chrome plated. The horns could take more of a beating than silver plated ones, which was useful for drum corps where you spent hours outside running around with them. I believe chrome plating itself is also bad for the environment which is why you don't really see it any more.

my fav (and only) chromium story is the time I touched a stirring bar used to mix potassium dichromate and water with my bare hands, my fingers got a brown tint that day lmao. Also great video, feels like a big channel is cooking.
