“You know” Helen, please prep these athletes prior to your interviews. We get that public speaking isn’t their strong suit. But “you know” and “you know what I mean” is a so annoying . Especially when it’s introduced every 3rd word. When it rubs off on you Helen, its way to much. You know.

The point is somewhat well-made, but ultimately both media training and public speaking more generally are skills to master, and not merely something that can be remedied via a quick heads up ahead of time. For most people it’ll take practice, as well as a desire to improve… but will show up everywhere once it properly sinks in.

To get paid well the rest of the time they need to train physically and mentally. They need to be media savvy, promote, and learn to draw an audience. Entertainers require an audience in order to get paid. So yeah, use your brain. Is it too much to suggest they learn how to speak coherent sentences? You know what I mean? Which is a question btw and shouldn’t be introduced 10 times mid sentence. That’s not how language is structured.
