Hard to say....We can only assume it was due to the fact that Gene apparently held a grudge against Dennis when he lost a job to him back in the 1950's. This was outlined in the book about Dennis.... "A Lifetime of Firsts" by Adam Nedeff.

@@dennisjames7576 Thanks for the reply and insight. He did a tremendous job on hosting that nighttime version. I just wished that his contract was extended at least into the mid 1980's as the big cash games and more lucrative pricing games were developed for the show. I can picture his style doing them if it materialized. Thanks again and we're waiting for any new episodes to pop up.
