TATRA ALL WHEEL STEER - FIRST LOOK AFTER SUPERSTRUCTURE FITTED

First look at Tatra Phoenix 8X8 all wheel steer tree cutting vehicle after crane and hooklift is fitted. The crane is a Palfinger PK48.002 TEC7 and the hooklift is a PHT17 SCAN SLD5. It was fitted by Lastvagnsmontage in Charlottenberg who did an amazing job. (website: www.lvm.se/). Now the truck will get it the tree cutting equipment fitted in a different workshop. You actually have. ATC American Truck Company should distribute Tatras firefighting vechicles in USA. They should have some in California and Nevada. But I dont know if you can buy classic truck there.

@@wanderingfido Where did you get the emergency firewall clear-cutting from? It is for cutting down trees yes, no real connection to forest fires though. In europe trucks tend to be "expensively engineered", the only thing special about that tatra are those big tires and the all wheel steer function.

I see one problem with the implementation you did. The front box. Unlike the other truck in the back, Tatra is suitable for offroading, which makes it excelent for forest works in mountanious areas. Part of it is the capability to cross 45° slope (military models can do that, civilian probably less but still useful ability). I think the box will get in the way of Tatra´s mobility.

Yes it will affect capability to climb but for this customer´s every day use till will be ok. If needed the front box can easily be removed. Just a few bolts and detach of quick connections for the hydraulics.

The "box" is a is there for a reason, with the hydraulics lowered to the ground it provides front support for the truck to stand stable so you can use the crane in all directions...

Tatra trucks are not that expensive, and they even use paccard engines so maintenance is doable anywhere. But they are hard to acquire, the company is at 100% production capacity one year ahead. Which is why they readily deal with partialy incomplete trucks, which others finish.

Should mention though that we only provide Tatra chassis and are no expert on cranes. The complete unit weighs 25,5 metric ton.
