I love that you are using a very large cord to demonstrate. Yes, yes, yes!! Finally, we can see what's really going on.

I like the thickness of the cord you are using for demonstration. I may have to tat with that cord. Thank you for this video. XO

Hi Maria, it's good for demonstrations because of its size yes, but it's not that easy to work with as it's really slippery! :-)

In a previous video I had a light bulb moment but am still struggling with the "slide" . Would you know of a place where I could find a large shuttle? So I can try it with the larger silky cord.
@11Frivole3 жыл бұрын
Hello Marymary, larger shuttles should be easy to find online. I don't know where you are but I bought mine from Handy Hands in the USA. You could also use a standard size shuttle but just put larger thread in it (maybe not silk cord but a thicker cotton). Your shuttle would not hold a lot of thicker thread but it would be enough for you to practice and get the hang of it. As a little note, silk cord is not that easy to work with because it's very slippery, so yes, the knots slide well, but the thread is harder to hold onto as you work. Good luck! :-)

Sorry I didn't reply earlier Maria Elena but no I do not sell the very large shuttles. I bought mine from an online shop.

Hi there, quick question. Does a picot count as one of the double stitches or do you do the picot/2nd half, then count the next double stitch? So for example if a pattern says “do 5 double stitches, a picot, then 5 more double stitches”, how is the picot counted? Hopefully my question makes sense ^_^’
@11Frivole2 жыл бұрын
Hello, picots are not counted as stitches as they are between stitches. They are a gap of thread left between two full stitches.
@heatheredmonds65812 жыл бұрын
I have a question. So the picot starts with a stitch and ends with another stitch. Say the pattern you use says 5ds picot 5ds. Does the beginning and end stitch count towards those 5 or is the picot stitch automatically two additional stitches?
@11Frivole2 жыл бұрын
Hi Heather, it's a good question. The picot is actually between two stitches, so you complete one full stitch and then leave a gap before making the next full stitch and when you snug your sitches, the "gap" becomes the picot between the stitches. So in that sense, the picot does not cause extra stitches being made (unlike a join for example). The picot is therefore not counted as a stitch and 5ds picots 5ds would have exactly ten stitches.

Hello Ruth, apologies for taking so long to reply. I do happen to have "Tatting for Today" and can see the edging on figure 22... I'm happy to help but I'm not sure what your question is?
