This is a very old and traditional tattooing artform called "batok" and is part of the culture of our northern Kalinga people. In the traditional method, the ink is tapped into the skin through a thorn from a calamansi tree. Those who have had it done say that it's more painful than the conventional way of getting tattooed. :D Thank you for this!

She’s imitating a traditional Filipino tattoo. Single needle/tool used to put the ink under the skin. So, the chisel is the tool (probably the closest she has to what she’s seen used).
