I have to say, your channel is the most informative, I've come across. I like that you're calm when explaining things. Your disposition is impeccable. I also love how you're straight to the point, without small talk. You take time to explain EVERY detail, and I am appreciative that you are sharing your knowledge. Thank you!! Now that I've praised you and got your attention, may I send my machines to you, for tuning?? 😂😂😂 JK...

what is the typical cps you would have for a liner, shader, and color packer?
@TattooUniversity

that is what I try to do
@TattooUniversity

Depends on who is using them. Typical answer is liner 120-150, shader 100-120, color packer 90-120

Tattoo University awesome man. Did you get my comment on your video about what exactly a longer or shorter stroker is for? like does it make the needle go deeper or what? Does it have a certain job when hitting the skin when having a longer or shorter stroke?
@TattooUniversity
@TattooUniversity 8 жыл бұрын
Your ink will determine how much stroke you need. If you have really thick ink you need a little more stroke. A longer stroke will slow your machine down also. Lining ink is thinner and typical liner doesn't have a lot of throw. The ink flows easier and machine is faster. This allows you to tattoo with faster hand speed. The ink runs out quicker so you have to dip more. You can also set up a liner with more throw. This liner will be slower and you build up lines. This is the liner I'm going to do in my next video. This liner has more throw and you can use thicker ink. I use eternal or bloodline inks with this liner. You don't have to dip as much and you can work an area more.

and can u please let us know, that you can use one machine for all jobs lining and coloring and shading, isn't that right. do it just matter how u move your hand and how hard u press down on the skin. and thanks for all the tips.
@TattooUniversity
@TattooUniversity 7 жыл бұрын
Yes you can use one machine for everything, but it has to be the right machine. How you move your hand will give you different effects but it will not help you pack color with the wrong machine. If you are lining you can speed up your hand to get a shading effect. You can also do the whip technique to feather out the line. I would not press down hard on someone while tattooing. You only put enough pressure to get to the correct depth. With experience you can feel the correct pressure while tattooing. Pushing harder will just cause you to go too deep. You can use one machine If you get a rotary machine that allows you to adjust it. I have coils that do several things. I can use my hand movements to mimic different techniques but I don't use one machine for everything. I can color blend with a shader but I would go to a color packer if I want solid color. I can line with a shader but I move my hand slower. You can get a machine do do several things. You have to know about machines and needles in order to do that. With the knowledge you can make machines do a lot of things. I've been told you can't line with a rotary machine. I line with a rotary machine all the time. You just have to know how to adjust it and what style machine works best. I would keep studying. Keep learning so you can understand your machines. Also learn your needle groups and how they work. If I put a short tapered needle into a shader it will pack color easier than a long tapered needle.

how can you tell what type of coils you have. I know there different amount of wraps around cores. good video though have great information
@TattooUniversity
@TattooUniversity 8 жыл бұрын
Usually I look at the size of the core and the wire. It is difficult some times because they cover the wire with shrink wrap some times. The diameter of the wire can be different also. Cheap coils usually put thin wire on the cores. Your 8 wraps are going to be smaller.

First, thank's a lot for the knowledge, this so helpful. I'm having a hard time adjusting coil hight specially while trying to get the screw through the joke, the washers and the coil... the machine originally had the washers over the joke but makes it harder to assemble them so i put the washers down the joke making this one to be kind of diagonal (cause i need more washers in one side than the other.) Does it matter? Also, my armature bar is a bit long... it needs about a millimeter to fit perfectly in the tube. How can I adjust it? Again, thanks.

i love your channel. big fan. i have one question though. after a while of tattooing machines start getting lazy and i need to flick the armature bar or shake the machine to get in running?
@TattooUniversity
@TattooUniversity 8 жыл бұрын
Machine is working too hard and over heating. You have to turn up the voltage to get it running correcgtly. If you machine isn't tuned correctly it will do this faster. A good machine that is tuned properly will take a long time before it heats up. Try tuning the machine and using only the least amount of voltage you need to do the job.
@TattooUniversity
@TattooUniversity 8 жыл бұрын
When machines heat up they don't work as good. You have to turn up the voltage. This just makes the problem worse. More voltage equals more heat. That is why its important to just use the right amount of voltage. Tune the machine so it doesn't have to work hard to do the job

What do I need to do with my rear spring cause I have a slope on my rear platform. My armature bar won't go down.
@TattooUniversity
@TattooUniversity 5 жыл бұрын
There could be several reasons why arm bar isn't going down. Could have too much tension on the rear spring. Could be contact screw needs adjustment. Need to make sure gap is correct. I would need to see the problem shoot the machine.

The material on the washer doesn't matter that much. The shape of the washer is more of a concern. I like a square washer more. Get rid of those little round washers.

that tension ruler isn't that good to use, it's like saying all cars have the same parts, it actually make it harder when using of different tattoo machines. they all have different, spring thickness, and thinner. and required different way to blend the springs. so u have to know how hard and strong you're coils are, if you find the balance between the coils and ambar, are you're coils strong enough to pull the tension that is on the springs. but by using that tool u will more then likely burn your coils out by using the tension tool. its like saying all cars have the Same parts, some do but a lot are different. think about it.

Hey bro I like what your doing here! But if your armature bar weighs 3-5 ounces your gonna need like a v-8 coil machine to push those. LOL.. I think your reading the scale incorrectly buddy. Just a little constructive criticism. Keep up the good work. Think about it 4 ounces is a quarter of a pound. I think what your reading is .4 ounces which is like 12grams or some shit.
@TattooUniversity
@TattooUniversity 7 жыл бұрын
I just used the scale to show people that your armature bars have different weights. Was not trying to be accurate with a scale used to measure food. I might of said something incorrectly. I have to focus on so many things to make these videos. Sometimes I say something wrong and don't catch it. Thanks for the comment.
