Nice clip! I would like to know if the longer stroke the thunder has is really necessary to create nice, bold lines. Or would you say the Spirit also does the job quite right?

Hi Hendrik, thank you for the question. Hawk Thunder and SOL Terra are perfect for lining because of the 4mm stroke. Hawk Pen, SOL Nova and SOL Nova Unlimited will do the job as well, but Hawk Spirit is really a shader not made for bold lines.

@@hendriknoack2382 A rotary machine works with a turning motor. When running the machine at same speed a short stroke will have a much slower speed of the needle tip at impact than a longer stroke. That´s why the punch/the hit at impact is more effective with a long stroke and will leave crispier bold lines.

Is Hawk Thunder good for doing pointillism shading or it can not work in such low speed?

The Thunder starts at 65Hz. The machines from the SOL series all start at 25Hz, so the SOL machines will be better for this style.

It always depends on your style and preference. There is no single answer to this questions. We always recommend to start quite slow and increase the speed till fell comfortable.

Hello, is the Spirit better for color work like realism and color packing with Magnums and Round Shaders than the Thunder? It is clear that the Thunder is good for lining and that the Spirit is soft and good for shading but what about pushing colored pigments , like I said, for color realism work and color packing .

For color packing and color work definitely the Thunder or the Pen, not the Spirit.

That´s exactly the point. The Spirit with its 2,5mm stroke is not a lining machine. It is perfect for soft shadings, but for lining you should switch to 3,5 or 4mm stroke.

@@CheyenneTattooEquipment I thought these pen type did both lining and shading.. I thought it was only coil that needed separate machines... Is there not one that does both?. Don't the cartridges just come in liner and shader ..why would this not work if it takes liner cartridges

ofcourse, any machine can do everything. It's all about hand pressure. Some people do hyper realism soft shadeing with 4mm+ stroke, but ofcourse it's way harder.

Hey, die HAWK Spirit ist perfekt für Shading, besonders im Black&Grey Bereich. Man kann sicher auch mit ihr Linien ziehen, aber HAWK Thunder und SOL Terra sind aufgrund des 4mm Strokes besser dafür geeignet.

Cheyenne Tattoo Equipment Danke für die schnelle Antwort. Ich hatte bisher nur spulenmaschinen und da in der produktbeschreibung der Spirit von einer Allround-Maschine gesprochen wird - hier aber zwei Maschinen empfohlen werden, war ich mir nun unsicher. Okay also für den Anfang um Rotary auszuprobieren werde ich dann nur die Spirit probieren, einfach wegen des sonst zu hohen Anschaffungspreises beider Maschinen auf einmal und dann mal schauen wie ich zurecht komme.

@@sklation6874 Lass uns wissen wie du damit zurecht gekommen bist. Wirkliche Allround Maschinen wären übrigens SOL Nova und SOL Nova Unlimited.
