Even if you live paycheck to paycheck, work at a company, don't have a nice car and high income to afford good housing or enough to go on vacation or whatever, remember its all in how you carry yourself, no matter what degree/job/income you have. Such an inspiring story! This woman reminds me of my sister, who is also a single mother. My parents weren’t as supportive as hers, but my sister pushed through and made it. Now she’s making $75k right out of college. Life could have been harder for this woman if her parents weren’t supportive. She’s very blessed.

I, myself raised 4 children. I got married young at the age of 13 have 3 children before graduating from high school and I continue on my education to pursue for higher education without support from my ex, nor i have any parent to support me. Right now, I have my master of clinical counseling with the county and my children are grown have their own life and all children are have their master degree

NEVER take your ex-husband back, no matter what. In a fantasy life you can take him back if both he and his parents came crawling on their hands and knees begging for forgiveness for their cruelty towards you. All joking aside, don't rush into marriage like you did the first time around. Get to know someone really well (the good, the ugly, and the bad) before committing your life to them. You don't need losers in your life. Find a good man, and if you never find one then that's okay. It's better to be alone and happy than miserable in a relationship.

Dr. I agree with you that competition is necessary. You and few Hmong showed that the traditional beliefs that a person must have a spouse is no longer necessary, unfortunately most Hmong still believe a person without a spouse is not a life. In your story, this ex husband really does not love you. The only reason he pretended to love you now is your success. Without hearing that you succeeded, he would not have contacted you again. Don't blame him. It's human nature to want things that has value. Even you yourself wouldn't want a loser for a husband. Women are more picky than men when it comes to status. Women don't want men who are intellectually or financially below them. Now that you're a doctor and he's not, as a woman, you wouldn't want him. Men on the other hand, don't mind if his wife is a high school dropout. Men would be concern if he only has a bachelor degree and his wife has a doctor degree because in this situation, the woman usually looks down on the man and dump his arse like many of the stories here where the man helped the woman get her doctor degree then she dumps him and marry someone else. I should know because I experienced it.
