I’m a simple person, I see Andy Tauer and I reach for money! I think you really did it justice and looking forward to those Tauer impressions 😁

Yes, he is just so charming and his fragrances are all bangers. I just feel like supporting the guy. Also I get free next day shipping being in Switzerland 🇨🇭 More of his to come, I have 6 bottles 😎

@@SeldomlyOften If you live in Switzerland you should definitely visit the antique store in downtown Zürich (if you don't already know it) where he started selling his perfumes, many years ago. I bought a couple of bottles for a very good price just a year ago.

An iconic and highly rated scent to be sure. I think you nailed the Jubilation reference. Very similar genre, although more grainy/dusty like you mentioned. I'll have to give those bar soaps a try!

I’ve honestly never heard anyone put the experience of wearing it into words better than that, right down to the orange-pink feeling. Nice job! I generally reserve it for transitional weather in spring and early autumn. But you’ve convinced me to give a summer wear a try lol.

@@DaveNYC thanks! Don’t know why but I always thing about Disney’s Aladdin (original animated one) when wearing this, specifically the night desert scene in the beginning.

Good review. Love lddm, i wear it in all 4 seasons. I prefer au coeur du desert but yet to buy a bottle haha

@SeldomlyOften 23 күн бұрын
@@Principemostprincipe don’t you feel it lacks some of the airiness of lddm? I feel the market is pretty saturated by heavier spicy ambers, lddm has that distinguishing factor that really sells it for me.

@@SeldomlyOften it is bottom heavy yes but i love it. When i finish lddm will buy desert. I do have few bottom heavy ambers like overture man, interlude man, grand soir, ambra aurea, ambre russe but i think desert still have its place among them haha

Also a big fan of Andy’s work, from the packaging to the juice, everything has a lovely consistent thread. The only complaint I have is the atomizer is terrible!

I bought my first Tauer recently, the Air du Desert Marocain of course and i was a little disappointed, it seems very out dated in the concept (well, 20 years is a lot of time but there are older creations that holds out well). It's not a bad perfume at all but it comes out like a view of the desert as it was placed on the Alps (or in the west somewhere) and since nowdays we have a well rounded representation of middle east in perfumery, especially the heavier smells, this rendition looks kind of "fake" to me (the desert in Alladin is very on point). It's silly but i can't ignore it. I'm definitely open to change my mind after wearing it for a longer time.

@@flarmentaro I’ve been using a lot of Memo Paris African Leather. On paper and in practice the smell similar but I find the Tauer much more involving and intriguing; and this is considering the Memo being really highly rated and popular.
@faddyie
@faddyie Ай бұрын
@@SeldomlyOftenI was considering getting both. But the turn off for me is the lack of modernity. So far, my research tells me that African Leather is modern but LDDH isn’t. I like to know your thoughts first. And secondly, why did you compare it with AL? Man it was spot on for me 😂
@SeldomlyOften
@SeldomlyOften Ай бұрын
@@faddyie because the ‘vibe’ from African Leather is similar, they are trying to do the same thing. These are oriental spicy ambers. Tauer has cumin and that airiness, Memo has more incense and cardamom, more perfumy overall. I like them both but I prefer the Tauer, more unique but still wearable.

I got a sample and it smells like fancy after shave it reminded me of something my grandfather used to wear I love that kind of smell so I like this very much but I was expecting something to blow my mind with how people hype this. Get samples people

@@kristianbonis483 where are you from? Never smelled an aftershave like this. Also, this is one of those that grows on you and you have to give it a full wear to understand it properly. That being said, it’s also totally fair if you didn’t like this 🙂

@SeldomlyOften 13 күн бұрын
@@Eirini80 yeah I totally get it and I also prefer these but the more you smell the “complex” scents, the more you start appreciating the simple takes. Not always, mind you, but there are days when you want to keep the heavy metal off the speakers and enjoy some Taylor Swift, so to say 😜

How would you compare the drydown of LDDM with Grand Soir?
@SeldomlyOften
@SeldomlyOften Ай бұрын
@@RobertLaTuso Grand Soir is way cleaner and simple; very elegant and understated. LDDM is a little spicy with that weird Tauer dry/dusty effect

Have you also sampled/worn the extrait version of this, Au Coeur Du Desert?
@SeldomlyOften
@SeldomlyOften 2 ай бұрын
@@RyanMcDonnough I wore a sample of it. I’m still on the fence about which one I like more. My mind says Extrait because it’s dense and oily but my heart actually goes for the warm air feeling of the original. The scent profile is basically the same.
@RyanMcDonnough
@RyanMcDonnough 2 ай бұрын
@@SeldomlyOften Is the extrait more dense to the point of negatively affecting projection/sillage? I want to get samples of both to test. I’m just curious what the differences are if the scent profile is identical. Seems like some extraits end-up projecting less than their EDT/EDP counterparts.
@SeldomlyOften
@SeldomlyOften 2 ай бұрын
@@RyanMcDonnough in this case you are basically trading longevity with projection. The main difference is the dryness and the airiness that LDDM has compared to the more oily nature of the Extrait. The original is super unique in this way.
