It was hard for me to swallow your message in places Susan, it was a little too near the truth for comfort. Yet I needed to hear it, thank you. On top of a lifetime of internal work, I'm 63, I still have much internal work to do ... and trying to muster the courage. Love to everyone going through the same ❤

Thank you for mention of “skipped step”. As a developmental psychologist this is the regressed and stuck psyches here in the states. As a collective we are quite young and undeveloped- a real lack of the hard work of differentiation and individuation. About we are “one consciousness” we cannot be if we are psychologically split- meaning a lack of integration of opposites. I am not surprised by the outcome as I am aware of the misogency (even in women) but am feeling deflated. .

I don’t think it was misogynistic tendencies of the US populace that won the election for trump. I’m pretty sure it was 4yrs of escalating economic hardship, hardened criminals being welcomed into the country across a non existent border, war in Ukraine & a genocide in Gaza with the threat of escalation in the Middle East, US soldiers being killed in a bungled withdrawal from Afghanistan, fuel/energy prices rocketing, industries & contracts going overseas, small business & farmers persecuted & stifled with red tape & beurocracy, transgender ideology being pushed on children with sexually deviant interactions being encouraged in libraries & marches. I could go on and on and on (& haven’t even mentioned the continued poisoning of your children by big agriculture/chemical & big pharma). Please don’t negatively label millions of people just because their lived reality & the action they felt they had to take to address it upsets your liberal middle class sensibilities. Try walking a mile in their shoes. Most people are innately kind deep down & just want to be left alone to raise a family, earn a living & spend a little time ‘smelling the roses’, they didn’t feel hey could do that under a Harris government, something every democrat needs to understand & accept.

Thankful to listen to you on the way to work this morning. I live off grid with no media so just heard the results. I will be the only one at work who feels such sadness. It’s been very difficult to hear that prayers are answered and we in the US is in God’s hands. When my understandings are so very different. I truly try and center in the Christ Consciousness you mentioned. Such dissonance however on a day like today. I have said throughout the election season we truly are putting our own name on the ballot and to trust and serve our neighbors. Breathing deeply today

Thank you Susan 🙏🏽🦋 as always a measured and insightful posts 💚 I grew up with the saying “do as you would be done by and others will too” and at some point realised this wasn’t always the case and felt somewhat disenchanted…. Then at 30 I found the Buddhist path and learned that no one else is responsible for my happiness and then the unpicking of the conditioning began … a life long process (now 61) of paying attention to the internal dialogue and learning to ‘be the change’ that Gandhi proposed, that I want to see in the world. I have found Internal Family Systems therapy also profoundly helpful in seeing, accepting, and including the parts of myself that I reject, suppress and ‘other’ and how that mirrors how I relate to others and interestingly how others relate to me. It’s work in progress and times like this help to highlight where there is still work to be done! 😅

What to do when and if your values or your community’s values are completely at odds with another’s? Especially if one group has more power and then forces one to live according to theirs and prevents one from living according to their own values. I don’t know if this is as simple as not liking people because of color. I’m having issues with groups that are committing atrocities in the world against other nations and then some of those identifying groups preventing girls from going to school or honor killing for perceived infidelities. I don’t know if I feel comfortable accepting them as they are. As always, I respect your views and am sincerely just curious.
@SusanHopkinsonАй бұрын
The only thing you can change is yourself. Seek to understand, so a tiny bridge can open up. Focus on your values, and do what you can to make your immediate surroundings better based on what you are able to do. Take inspiration from historical figures like Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi (look at the outcomes, set aside controversies around their personal lives), and the many others who were surrounded by people who most definitely didn't share their values. "Judge not lest you be judged" does not preclude making constructive changes. 🙏🏻

What happened today was a balancing act? The power balance between international powers is so important and if Democracts would have won, US would have lost its autonomy. This is a victory of everyone. As much as I respect liberal ideals, I have no respect for Democrats who used such noble goals for corrupt and selfish purposes.

@@SusanHopkinsonBut when you refer back to splinter in the eye that was an offhand comment by Hilary Clinton from the 1996 election (e.g. “deplorable”) and you miss the stick in eye of the pervasive “own the libs” and other much more dangerous and widespread pejoratives, this just seems like victim blaming nonsense. I’m sorry Susan, but I think that this is a moment to really stop pretending to believe the best of people by projecting that onto them and instead, we are meant to see who people - our neighbors and family and “friends” - truly are through their words and actions. We have long done this in personal relationships and parasocial ones and it is impeding our ability to effect actual change in the world. This is a depressing but real moment of clarity. People are grieving their very real current loss of bodily autonomy (women, queer folk, minorities, etc) because people with power like to exercise it on those with less power. This is not “find your center and look inward” energy. This is the time to put on your Athena armor and if wisdom won’t work, then let your inner warrior shine. Stop projecting goodness onto evil. You yourself recognize the webs being woven by staying non-monetized and out of the grasp of Google to at least some extent. Don’t pretend that this is “all for the higher good.” I think we all know better now. Or we should. We aren’t children.

@@SusanHopkinson interesting that a man who stirs his base with hatred was elected, and now the spiritual bypassing begins of how to respond. I mean literally from our next president posting “I hate Taylor swift” and our future VP criticizing childless cat ladies as not being real women, PR being called garbage at his rally… people quickly forgot how much hatred was stirred up during trumps four years in office. It’s ok for the GOP to stand for hate.
@SusanHopkinsonАй бұрын
Hate is not ok. It's toxic to all of us around the world because while you are busy hating each other, the US is wreaking havoc around the world unnoticed by most of its own people. Both options are appalling, and something needs to change but it can't if people are just name calling. The hate has to stop somewhere - let it stop with the polarisation that is increasingly prevalent over the past 20 years.
@annelipman9585Ай бұрын
Susan, please reconsider what you believe regarding genocide . If you are referring to Israel’s right to exist and it’s right to protect its citizens from jihadists who want them all dead, then you have warped the definition of genocide . If you want peace , free the Palestinians and the Lebanese and the Iranians from jihadists. Re-educate the youth to love and not hate its Jewish and American neighbors . Arabs live freely in Israel , not so much the other way around .
@Balcon200Ай бұрын
Children and women are the majority of people killed in this conflict. They dont seem like jihadists or terrorists to me. Truly ortodox jewish people are saying the jewish people are living the 5th exile and should not be in Israel as per their own faith...so this conflict to me is really about land.
@SusanHopkinsonАй бұрын
I have no qualms about calling what Israel is doing to the Palestinians and now the Lebanese a Genocide, much like every human rights and medical organisation, legal opinion, and UN (vast) majority opinion. Actually looking at the ongoing events and still pretending it is not deliberate, genocidal, mass killing of civilians is willful ignorance based on cognitive dissonance, which I can only hope you wake up to soon. It is not easy to undo a lifetime of propaganda, but our survival depends on it. 🙏🏻
@annelipman9585Ай бұрын
Susan, I have noticed that many who feel as you do, seem to be able to compartmentalize the barbaric rapes, and murders of innocent people in Israel. If the jihadist groups stop the murders, kidnapping and bombing , the war in the Middle East is over . I hope for you , that your eyes and heart opens to a deeper understanding of the Middle East issue and Israel’s role in freeing us all from a very evil mindset and ideology . Warmest regards from a Jewish listener of your KZbin channel. Thank you for your reply as it tells me you do care .

Although it has been propagandised into into a religious dispute, it is essentially a political/ideological one based on the racist, white supremacist tenets of the Nation of Zion, Zionists, Nazis. The paradox is astonishing but real. I will let another Jew, Gabor Mate, provide another element of this inability to see the power of a lifetime of Zionist propaganda and indoctrination: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHS3oYmEgNxqi68si=LxCB3_BUdQB3XSz1

Ok then, here is where it really is . I see now , you are antisemitic . To even suggest a love for Israel is suprematism and similar to Nazi hatred is very sad . Hatred for the Jewish nation is real and I am sorry you can not see your own hatred as a darkness in your soul and spirit .
