What a Beauty! What a Machine! Thank you for this one sir 👌

Good morning, Allow me a small correction: the screw holes on the primary mirror box (where the altitude axes attach) are not for varying the focal length (that would be impossible anyway, as the length of the tubes would not vary ;) ). They are here to move the primary mirror box forward or backward, and thus to adjust the center of gravity of the telescope. It's for balancing. I also own a Taurus telescope and I'm fully satisfied with it! :)

Thank you for enlightening me on that. I was just theorising as I didn't really know.

It was a 6 month wait for me. Hopefully you have no issues and fall in love with it like I have. What extras did you go with and standard or pro mirrors?

Hi Nomis, Based on your review (and some others) I now have a T350 on order and am wondering whether I should add the main mirror cooling fans. What is your experience regarding cooling times? Thanks
@nomisastro20002 жыл бұрын
Nice to hear! I do not think you will be disappointed. I personally do not think the cooling fans are important. The entire back of the mirror and cell is exposed and I find my mirror has cooled down plenty with in 30 minutes of setup to give excellent views at the eyepiece. Keeping in mind that I keep my scope in its bags in my garage, whoch is only a few degrees warmer than outside. What I consider essential is the heated secondary but most of all the storage bags, those are must have. The DSC is outstanding too and am so glad I ordered mine with it. The simplicity and excellent accuracy of it has not made me miss GOTO at all.
@tedbracht45042 жыл бұрын
@@nomisastro2000 Thank you so much. Yes I did add the secondary heater, the bags and the dsc. I will be storing mine in ambient temp as well (a garden shed), bit concerned when the sun shines it gets too hot in there (flat roof) so in summer I think I'll be storing it inside but in winter it will probably be same temp as outside. You had some bother with your mirror but that got all sorted didn't it?
@nomisastro20002 жыл бұрын
@@tedbracht4504 Yes, my mirror had water stains. The mirror went back under warranty but was then covered in dust from the packaging upon return, so I ended up washing the mirror to get it to my standards. Hopefully that is something Taurus have been keeping an eye on but they really do need a better way of shipping mirrors on their own as it was rather awful. Should you have any issues I found them great to deal with but most do not get my bad luck, ha....

Hallo Nomis, bald kommt mein Taurus 353 Dobson. Hast du so etwas schon gemacht?

Enjoyed your video of the T400, looks like a nice dobsonian. Can I ask does it suffer badly from dew ?
@nomisastro2000 Жыл бұрын
Thank you. So long as you use the shroud the primary never dews over and the shroud hanlde the moisutre very well. I got the heated secondary but as I used the shroud all the time I have only ever saw it come on once for about 10 seconds.

Thanks Dave, You're more than welcome to give it a try next time we cross paths. Its even more beautiful to use as it is to look at and the views are outstanding. I got to see G1 in M31 with it just a few weeks ago and was able to share the view with a few of the lads from the club.

Such a small secondary mirror. What is the focal length?
@nomisastro2000 Жыл бұрын
It's actually quite big. I think there is a bit of an optical illusion going on. The sipder and secondary holder are so thin and small - but of very high quality - thus making the secodary look smaller than it is. The FL is 1800mm, which is spot of for an F4.5 16" mirror.

@@nomisastro2000 Have you been able to see the Andromeda galaxy's spirals by this scope ?
@nomisastro2000 Жыл бұрын
@@relaxerization Yes, with good seeing and trans, easily from my Bortle 4 site at home and I have also seen G1 and the star cluster NGC 206 very well indeed.
