Hi Butch, thank you for the reading. My father smoked from a young age (12) until he quit cold turkey age 69. He basically locked himself in his room and only came out to get food or to use the bathroom. He said it was one of the most difficult things he ever did. He stayed in there for 30 days. But after that, he was able to refrain from accepting offers from friends etc., he really stopped having the urge to do it. He lived to be 84, and because of the length of time spent smoking he had a lot of accumulation exit his body but his sense of taste returned. You are doing great, the coughing may happen for a long while as your body readjusts. I wish you and your family a most blessed Christmas season.

Yes, Butch. Well, at least for me it was true when I quit smoking. The Cilia in your respiratory system is healing, which can produce several things like (deep) coughing suddenly, or a tickle in your throat that won't go away and it makes you cough a lot, etc. Somewhere around 3 to 6 months of smoking cessation, some, not all, have some kind of respiratory distress - - - it can be unpleasant, but it is your body/cilia getting rid of the toxins to heal this system's function within your body.
