This brilliant band gives a magnificent tribute to the beauty and utter origninality of Mike Oldfield's splendid music. Respectful, beautiful, exhilarating rendition. Ich war 13,als das Album herauskam . Ich war ergriffen ob der vielen Instrumente,deren Spielweise und den Harmonien ,zusamman mit den Tempiwechsel und dem Vocoder,welchen ich überaus liebe. Damals hab ich dieses Album nicht zuletzt wegen Taurus II als mein 2-liebstes Mike Oldfield Album gesehen...und sehe es immer noch so...(1.liebstes Album ist Incantations...der Chor am Anfang...der alleine sorgt für galaktisches Rückenkribbeln...) Damals habe ich an vielen Stellen in Taurus II geweint.....heute - nach 38 Jahren - habe ich wieder geweint....so viel Liebe zum Detail,so viel Begeisterung,ja wirklich...so Genial...so viel Arbeit....Hamma...gerne mehr.... : ))

Turrebo Yes. This is indeed a masterpiece. I discovered Mike Oldfield in 1981 (Blue Peter, Wonderful Land). The sound of that guitar amazed me, and opened the door wide open into the world of progressive music. I am forever grateful for that revelation I had as a 13 year young kid.

which is true... l love Mike Oldfield but I've been disappointed with his live renditions not being as strong as the album track. Check out the live versions on the Five Miles Out deluxe CD and the limited 5 disc Crises boxset to see what l mean.

Oldfield innovates in his concerts, but they were done for budget reasons to not be loss making so arranged differently to albums. Incantations was done nearly exactly as album but exceeding loss making. Fadalack repeat the albums with brilliant and immensely respectable voluntary work, so I agree they are better overall than many Oldfield’s concerts. He also composed Platinum with live concerts (composed whilst he was making huge losses in then Incantations concerts) in mind which is why it worked well in concert. Fadalack’s arranger has profound musical gifts to determine all the individual notes so accurately of minor background parts and sometimes making tasteful practical instrument substitutions, never cutting corners and often going to expense of using real instruments in place of synths in the original.
