What a great video!! I love the shots you took. I’m new to mass and currently living In Quincy (near Boston area), that spot where you went, do you have to take the fairy? And what other spots for tog do you recommend for kayak fishing? Thanks in advance and thanks for a great video!

I’m glad you enjoyed the video! No I did not take a ferry to access the spots fished in this video. You can find tautog in rocky areas all throughout Buzzards Bay, Vineyard Sound and even Cape Cod Bay. If you sign up for a membership on my site myfishingcapecod.com then I’d be happy to help you more. Thank you again for watching and commenting! 😎🙌🏻🎣

Awesome fight and it was a great dinner. I had some more scup two nights ago actually, and a sea robin! Tight lines. 🎣

if you ended up in the water in with those waders can you swim?
@MyFishingCapeCod Жыл бұрын
I wear a GUL U-Zip Drysuit now which is better. In this video however, I had a Rock Hopper wading belt tied tightly around my waist, with a STORM surf top and Stohlquist lifejacket, so I was more or less water-tight. I'm confident I would have been OK swimming but I did not try.

Why do people prefer to wear wader when going on a kayak?
@MyFishingCapeCod3 жыл бұрын
Being waterproof is nice when the water is cold. I would actually recommend wearing a drysuit when kayak fishing during the spring and late fall.

@@MyFishingCapeCod isn’t that difficult when you need to pee? Do you need to know how to swim if you want to own a kayak?

So informative. Great footage. I’m in east Dennis. Where are you fishing at, and how far to you venture out from shore?
@MyFishingCapeCod3 жыл бұрын
This was filmed in Buzzard's Bay, but I fish off Dennis quite often too. In the kayak I try to stay within a half mile of the shoreline. LMK if I can help answer anything else. Tight lines! 🎣

Nice video and nice looking recipe. what general area of the Cape has the best scup / tog fishing? I'm land based, maybe next year a kayak will be in the mix. Thanks
@MyFishingCapeCod3 жыл бұрын
Any rock pile in 15-30ft of water in Buzzard's Bay, Vineyard Sound or Nantucket Sound has potential for tog and scup. You can also find them off jetties. Scup especially like to hang out around inlets along the southside. Gluck! 🎣

@@MyFishingCapeCod thanks, was at the ditch yesterday got a nice schoolie on the jig but didn't see anyone else hooking up. Tried Craigville beach but not bait, no birds, no blues but what a great day. Thanks will be renewing my membership this week.

Hey Ryan, are u wearing waders here? I’m going to launch my kayak early too and was wondering if it’s dangerous to launch with the waders on incase of flipping?
@MyFishingCapeCod2 жыл бұрын
You want to be 100% waterproof/watertight because the water during the spring is so cold. In other words you don’t want any water touching your skin. In this video I’m wearing my Simms waders with a STORMR top and a wading belt fastened tightly around my waist. With this setup I’m watertight and virtually waterproof, so no water is going to touch my skin or fill up my waders. However, the best and safest option is to purchase a dry suit, which I have done since creating this video. I am now wearing a GULL dry suit for early season fishing and it is what I recommended. www.watersportsoutlet.com/2021-gul-mens-code-zero-stretch-zip-drysuit-with-con-zip-underfleece-gm0368-black-p-32192.html

Do you think the tog jig hooks are big for the tautog?
@MyFishingCapeCod3 жыл бұрын
For the smaller tog, yes they are a bit large. But for the big keeper-size tog, I think they work pretty well.
