as cool as this is get into something simple if you want to learn. i wouldn’t even start with a car, i’d get a dirt bike and an rc car. those are usually less complicated, and have small versions the things that every car has: wheels, axles, driveshafts, bearings, wiring, engines, motors, batteries, pretty much anything that could be a car part. and it’s usually cheaper too which is nice when learning.

I don't know if you know this tavarish, but lithium batteries are hermetically sealed. Lithium reacts violently with contact with the air. So it has to be completely airtight. Lithium will spontaneously combust when it contacts oxygen. So the fact that your battery hasn't melted down, says that there is no water inside. Because if water could get in, Air could get in, and it would have melted down already.

I was thinking the same. Opening electrical connections covered in salty sand, probably isn't the best idea. I get the impatience and excitement, but this should really be done methodically to save as much as possible.

The lithium battery is probably still good. Lithium doesn't do well in moisture so the battery casing is very likely water tight. Give the recharge a shot.
@ljacota Жыл бұрын
We soak lithium batteries in salt water to kill them.
@romanteni Жыл бұрын
If you put it in the microwave for about 30 minutes, since the battery is Plastic, it would evaporate all the moisture so it'll hold charge better.

10v is about as low as a 12.8v li battery should go. They like to short below that or catch on fire while recharging

Freddie, Awesome project. Thanks for taking the risk. I’m afraid every car channel these days has evolved from taking a risk on a project to just having some much cash flow they just take on every Lamborghini project out there and just spend recklessly on it. This project puts you back in the realm of risk. Although it’s not the risk that the everyday man can take. It’s entertaining to see a real project again

I hope you find a fibreglass repairs centre that can make a mould of that clamshell and save you some money.. British cars are always interesting to see how they are for taking apart to work on them.. Can't wait to see it going. 👌

It’s carbon fiber, it can be fixed same as fiberglass. You’d be surprised what can be repaired.
@AnthonyDurand1 Жыл бұрын
@@MechanicalMafioso yeah I know man, could repair that one by filling it in with fibreglass and use the specs to make a mould, then using the mould make a new shell out of carbon? Its a cool thing to keep or mount on the wall.. I wouldn't trust that original clamshell at 200mph.. 😂 The more they take that car apart the more you appreciate the love and care that came into it's design.. That cars taken a serious beating and other than the rear clamshell it's perfect.. Same philosophy as the magenta F1 Rowan Atkinson crashed.. These things were engineered to go fast and be safe.. Saw how that undertray flexed when they removed it.. I'd love to see it in a aerodynamics facility where they spray it with ink at 200 to see how air flows around it..
@MechanicalMafioso Жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyDurand1 I’ve seen lots of fiberglass late model fenders get repaired that were absolutely destroyed, more than 6 pieces get put back together and hold up just fine around 160 mph. Carbon fiber is far stronger. It’ll hold up just fine @ 200+ as long as it’s repaired properly, it’ll be just as strong as it was originally.
